Planned Parenthood Pushes Intensive Sex Education for Kids as Young as 10

Glad you guys aren't teaching my children. That's my job.

I wouldn't be surprised if the same people advocating this kind of curriculum argue against age of consent and child porn laws as well. Sickos.

So you try to equate sensible responsible education to pedophilia? Well, I guess that is a common way to derail be it this issue or same sex marriage. You've basically just said you can't justify your paranoia so instead of being mature enough for reflection you accuse others of child porn.....which breeds more paranoia. You probably hit your kids and try to use the Bible to justify it too. I sure as hell hope someone is teaching your children because there is no way in hell you are capable.

My children are teenagers and have managed not to get anyone pregnant yet, but thank you for your concern. I am 100% certain they were not having sex in the 5th grade and would be greatly disturbed if they were.

I have stated several times on this forum that I don't believe sex ed has much efficacy at all, but I am not opposed. I am opposed to teaching middle schoolers about "pleasure" rather than contraception. They can learn about that on their own when they ARE READY!

I'm curious what Planned Parenthood's position on marriage is. I don't expect kids to wait until marriage before they have sex, but it is not unreasonable for them to wait to have children until they are married. I know - I'm just a dinosaur.

That doesn't make sense. First, it is 3%. A small percentage.
The other 97% of services are where the bulk is - a mammogram last I went to the Breast Clinic cost a little over 200.00 with the radiologist reading. Pap and reading can run anywhere from 50. to 200.00. Treating sexually transmitted diseases can run up there as well. (though I don't know the cost, never had any.)

Now, as far as revenue, a lot of PP's clients are low income, and they charge based on what clients are able to pay. The money to make up the difference, is by and large from donations.

Your talking point failed.

Unless you link me to a P&L statement I'm sticking with my first hand knowledge.
No matter what I link for you, you're still going to push your falsehoods.

You know it and I know it.

There is not a false hood about it.

The percent of revenue to the percent of services is skewed way in favor of my statement.
Are you disagreeing that while Abortion makes up (using your figure) 3% of PP's services that it brings in a much larger share of revenue?

Planned Parenthood needs kids to become sexually active as young as possible so there are more unwanted pregnancies and thus more abortions.
Abortion is big business and big revenue to Planned Parenthood.
Follow the money. It's that simple.

Wow! That makes perfect sense! When I first heard of the theory that garbage companies were paying illegals to put lint in peoples pockets to increase the weight of garbage, thereby increasing their revenue, I thought that was crazy. Clearly I see now it must be true thanks to your economic motive for educating kids.

Del has mentioned teaching "age appropriate content" but after checking out PP's Teen Talk, I don't see much that is "age appropriate" for ten year olds. And I'm fairly certain they won't be creating a restricted site for "pre-teens"

On a side note - I don't think reliable data exists on abortion revenue. A good chunk of their budget comes from taxpayers and they can't use it for abortion services. My guess is some creative accounting is used to lump everything into "general health services".

Of course a program designed for teens that may not be appropriate for a 10-year-old is proof positive of latent pedophelia. And of course a group you obviously dislike must be cooking their books in addition to raping our kids. It all makes perfect sense now. :clap2:

Can't allow facts or common sense to get in the way of a good demonization, can we?

2/3rds of PP funding comes from private donations, not the government.

However you define "a good chunk."

I don't care if they've gotten anyone pregnant or not. You are so damned focused on "sex" you can't see the education. Are you so obsessed with the concept of pleasure because you couldn't identify an orgasm in a porn shop? And no, you are not a dinosaur. They didn't weigh nearly as much.

10 is to young. Hell 12 is to young.

It is PARENTS job to teach sex education not schools and not planned Parenthood.

That's what I love about people with your mindset.

Its always so easy to either place the responsibility on or to blame the parents for anything that goes on in their kids lives. I understand it is ultimately on the parents to ensure the best life for their kids.. but we all know there are some pretty shitty parents out there.

For decades the tendency has always been to leave it to the parents.. but what we don't realize is the kids of twenty years ago are TODAY the very parents we are bitching about.

Until we realize there is no magic switch that will stop teenage pregnancy, substance abuse, abuse of our welfare system, piss-poor education, etc, etc, etc..... we will always be blaming the parents... we will never make any progress.

How about we put programs in place that teach our kids things that many of our parents are too fucking lazy to do?

are you on their board?

Innocence is to be treasured. Ten year olds should be learning about fractions in school; not masturbation.
I agree completely. However ten year olds should be given some of the basics - girls in particular need to know about menstrual cycles and it is never too early to remind them that taking a moment to say "wait until later" or "let me think about it a little longer" is a valid defense against peer pressure to do anything that makes them uncomfortable.

I have met too many unfortunate children who were raped by the time they turned 10 to have any illusions about the innocence of the average group of chatty kids. Add the number with access to internet porn (through the simple act of lying about being old enough) who instruct their peers and the issue cannot be put off until they turn 14 or whichever age you would prefer to see the subject arise.

My my. If one opposes the teaching of "sexual pleasure" to 10 year olds, one must be sex obsessed, child abusing, and fat???? Good one.

I do not know one sane person in my real life who would approve of their child's teacher teaching about "pleasure" in an elementary school classroom. Either you guys did not read the commentary, or you are living on another planet.
This was not about birth control.

No wonder so many folks don't trust the oublic schools.Sheez,

Oh and del I am not on the board of PP. But if you google "abortion revenue" you will find all kinds of confliciting stats from pro-life to pro-choice groups, The truth is probably somewhere in between.

A new report by the International Planned Parenthood Federation is advocating that children as young as 10 be given extensive sex education, including an awareness of sex's pleasures.

The report, "Stand and Deliver," charges that religious groups, specifically Catholics and Muslims, deny their young access to comprehensive sexual programs and education.

"Young people's sexuality is still contentious for many religious institutions. Fundamentalist and other religious groups — the Catholic Church and madrasas (Islamic Schools) for example — have imposed tremendous barriers that prevent young people, particularly, from obtaining information and services related to sex and reproduction. Currently, many religious teachings deny the pleasurable and positive aspects of sex." the report states.

Anyone have a problem with the "sexualization" of children?

I might be wrong, but didn't you post an article about an eleven year old having a baby?

Oh for goodness' sake chanel, give it a rest. There are girls menstruating at 10 and 11 years old, you think they and some of the boys too aren't experiencing the rest of the effects of their hormones? Explaining to them that what they feel or are about to start feeling is normal and natural and nothing to be ashamed of, that in fact they're supposed to feel these urges and there's nothing wrong with them, is the opposite of abuse if you ask me. And then follow it up with the rest. Why perpetuate unnecessary confusion and shame? Don't you think kids have enough to worry about without that?

Simple yes or no question: have you read the Report?

Yes Luissa I did. And in that case I'm fairly certain it was rape - not "consensual sex" between 10 year olds - like there could be such a thing.

If I wanted to post the whole report curve I would have. This discussion is on the news story. Are you suggesting that this is an "absurd" spin on the report? I'd buy that.

What I can't accept is defending the absurdity - if that's what it is.
