The elevator caught fire.
And before anyone starts making chicken little noises....
An elevator is nothing more than a fan and a set of ducts that blow grain and flour into various silos.
And because flour and wheat bran and corn dust are explosive usually everything electrical is done in a special manner to help prevent any explosions.
What this fire and the others stem from is a lack of maintenance and parts to replace systems like the fire sprinkler system.
Let me explain the scenario....
The fire sprinkler/alarm system gets contaminated with flour and shorts out because that new guy opened the panel at the worst possible time when the other new guys were moving flour and tripped something....so when it got investigated the panel's circuit board fried.
The new circuit board was ordered but it hasn't arrived...(chip shortages) and when a circuit board did show up it was the wrong one or was bad....so another was ordered but in the meantime things have to keep going because people need to eat. So a bit of wire was used to hold closed the alarm switch.
Then the idiot newbies (because most of the seasoned veterans on the job retired early) created an explosive condition while the safeties were physically locked out from performing.
And this same scenario is playing out all across America.
Where the loss is still serious it's somewhat easy to fix.
It's just some tin and some air handlers.
