Planet Fitness (greatest hits)

My local L A Fitness closed down a couple month ago (no other LAF is in reasonable distance), and after considering several options, my wife and I joined Planet Fitness. She has her membership paid by Silver Sneakers and I come as a "guest" at all times, so we pay essentially nothing for our membership. We patronized a PF in Florida when we went down for the Winter, so we have used two local and one remote club in the time since we first joined.

No complaints whatsoever. It is a great place to work out, and even when it's "crowded" we can still do our respective workouts uninterrupted. I have seen a few examples of oddball workout practices, but nothing that interfered with what we were doing.

I find one "requirement" to be bothersome, but that's just me. They want you to wipe down the equipment you are using after every use, and I basically refuse to do it. I get the Hairy Eyeball occasionally from older women, but the practice is hygienically stupid and I refuse to do it. Unless, of course, I am sweating profusely and leave bodily fluids on the device - which hasn't happened yet.

Each PF gym has a "30 minute workout" area, where you run through a dozen (or so) stations, ideally in a half-hour period, and you have gotten a full, head-to-toe workout. I love it, and I do it on every visit, followed by a few specialized exercises and 30 minutes on a cardio machine. I could not ask for a better or cheaper place to work out.

Every gym has one of these people in it at some point.

The one with the bench press fail wasn’t planet fitness. They don’t have bench press
