Californians are absolutely stupid enough to vote for this.

The state legislature would then have to approve it and then the US Congress would have to approve it. Neither of those is going to happen

Half the state legislature are stoned out of their minds 24/7.

The US Congress would vote for it if it came down to that.

Giving the parts of the state that want independence from the US and a pro rata share of the national debt is quite doable.

What does that have to do with this ballot initiative?

Creating new states without permission of congress is a form of rebellion that would require the recusal of the delegations of the state to decide the fate of the miscreants.

Any break-up of California hurts Dems badly and helps the GOP because it takes away the states ability for a few LA and SF counties to control all 55 ECVs in one fell-swoop, but this new plan for three states doesn't look as good as the original 2 state system and likely is the effort of some Leftist Group because it leaves either San Diego, LA or SF in charge of each of the three states and I know the people in northern Ca and eastern Ca (away from the coast) will not be happy about that.

1. I'm for it, having seen the break down it looks good.
2. California couldn't get any worse so lets break them up.
3. Maybe one state will turn out decent.
4. Its worth the gamble.
5. Could be two states turn out ok, but Hollywood, hell no thats a cesspool.
6. Give Northern and Southern a fighting chance to redeem themselves, we already know LA never will its better it gets nuked because of what filth comes form LA.
7. Sounds harsh?,.....nope, not at all, fire and brim stone worked then and can again.

Conservatives in California forget how many red counties need the tax money from blue counties to finance the infrastructure necessary to the red counties' needs. The conservative counties are low wage areas, especially in those that are mainly agriculture.

Who is going to pay to maintain their roads, and the many canals that supply irrigation water? Conservatives don't want to pay for fire and police protection, so they would really hate it if they had to finance infrastructure needs as well. It is certain the low wage employees that dominate the farming population can't afford it.

Conservatives in California should be careful what they wish for, the blue state that remained would still be a top world economy. But, without the blue, the red would fade away.
