We've come a long way since the days of the British mental hospital, 'Bedlam,' where one could 'pay a penny, see the loonies.'

"If you were bored in the 1800s, you could always pop down to the local insane asylum to liven up your day. Many of these institutions allowed the public to pay a small to fee to walk around gawking at the residents.... St. Mary Bethlehem, aka Bethlam Hospital, aka Bedlam. The bastardized version of its name is where we get the word for absolute craziness. And in the 1800s it was very crazy at Bedlam. Visitors paid a penny to look at the patients and if they were being too calm and docile for the visitor’s liking, they were allowed to poke the patients with sticks."

Granted....that was before cable TV....

...but now it's totally free to view crazy folks.
And....they walk among us!

And now for a quiz!
See how many crazies you can find in this story:

1."French mother on trial for son Jihad’s T-shirt

2. SORGUES, France — A T-shirt worn by a 3-year-old nursery-schooler named Jihad has led to an unusual and politically charged criminal trial here that tests the limits of free speech — and common sense —...

3. “I am a bomb,” the shirt said on the front. The back read, “Jihad Born Sept. 11.”

4. ... began Sept. 25 at an unlikely place: the Ramieres de Sorgues municipal nursery. As she dressed the children after a lunch break, a teacher there became alarmed when she saw Jihad’s T-shirt.

5. Although little Jihad was born on Sept. 11, the teacher saw an outrageous reference to Islamic war and the al-Qaeda terrorist attacks...

6. ... the principal, who was equally upset and called in Jihad’s 35-year-old Moroccan-born mother, Bouchra Bagour.

7. ... the single mother, who works as a secretary, apologized for causing trouble and said she had no intention of conveying a political message via her toddler.

8. ...we can’t let that go by,” [Mayor] Lagneau recalled. “I didn’t know what was behind it, but we could not let that go. We have to impose limits.”

9. The uncle, who had bought the T-shirt in nearby Avignon and given it to Jihad, said he was kept in custody for four hours, including more than two hours in a holding cell....The most troubling question from police, Makouh said, was put to the mother as well as the uncle: Did Bagour induce labor three years ago so Jihad would be born on Sept. 11?

10 ...the prosecutor decided to charge Bagour and her brother with “apology for crime,” which under a 1981 French law carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a $58,000 fine."

We live in interesting times....

"Bouchra Bagour was found guilty of condoning a criminal act, along with her brother Zeyad, who bought the child the T-shirt recalling Islamist militant group al Qaeda's attacks on the United States on Sept. 11, 2001 that killed almost 3,000 people.

Overturning an earlier acquittal, the appeals court in the southern town of Nimes fined the woman $2,700 and gave her a one-year suspended jail sentence, doubling that fine and suspended jail sentence for the uncle."

lovely woman....shows you where mommas head is.

And....in several what-may-be related stories:

a. Mein Kampf was rated 4th on the best-seller list among Palestinians in a survey conducted and reported in PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida. Source: Al-Hayat Al-Jadida (Fatah), Sept. 2, 1999

b. Books such as Mein Kampf,The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, and The International Jew are high on Turkish bestseller lists, and are displayed prominently in the front of bookstores

c. There are even Palestinians whose first name is “Hitler”: Hitler Salah [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida (Fatah), Sept. 28, 2005], Hitler Abu-Alrab [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida (Fatah), Jan. 27, 2005], Hitler Mahmud Abu-Libda [Al-Hayat Al-Jadida (Fatah), Dec.18, 2000.]

Crazy....or what?

Jihad is a somewhat common name in muslim countries and has nothing to do with 9/11

The word jihad means 'struggle' in arabic.

I had a close arab friend who's wife gave birth before the attack on the twin towers.

His wife had a very long and difficult delivery of their first son.

And in those countries a child's name has meaning or represents something.

So they decided to name him 'jihad' to honor her hard struggle during labor. ..

So....you want the answer to the quiz, Sunni?

The mom is a crazy for ignoring the threatening political references....

The teacher and principal are nuts because they took same seriously on a 3yr old's T-shirt.

The legal system is, too, due to the insane sentence for wearing a T-shirt.

And remember.....when you see a Palestinian in a suicide vest.....you know what makes 'em tick.

BTW......have any close Arab friends named 'Hitler'?
Didn't think so.

On a serious note, everyone should pay close attention to the results of other nations not having our first amendment.
This is what all those who want us to give up our sovereignty to the United Nations are wishing for us.
God bless America.
