:whip3: Photodynamic Therapy is a treatment for cancer and an assortment of other conditions that has been available for a few years but has not received much publicity from major media.
In PDT, a light sensitive drug, Photofrin, is injected into the bloodstream and is deposited in cancer cells and normal cells all over the body.(Newsweek, Jan 26, 1998, p.72) But, after 48 hours, the drug leaves the normal cells and remains in the cancer cells. After exposure to a red laser, the tumor absorbs the light "...and produces an active form of oxygen that destroys nearby cancer cells." ... http://cis.nci.nih.gov/facts/7_7.htm ...
In lung cancer, after treatment with the drug, a bronchoscope with a laser is inserted into the lung at the location of the cancer and the laser activates the drug killing the cancer. In Toronto, Canada, doctors are using PDT in some brain cancer cases where surgery or radiation has left residual tumor cells. ...

The FDA has approved this treatment for esophogeal cancer, some lung cancers, skin cancer, and it is being tried in other areas. In a clinical trial of 350 people with early stage cancer of the throat and larynx...88% of patients were cancer free after the first treatment....

Major media is not giving much publicity to these innovative treatments...if major drug companies cant make much money on these treatments you aint gonna hear much about them...
