Pete Hegseth refuses to meet with bearded soldiers in South Korea

I don't see the problem with facial hair as long as it's kept neat and trimmed. Men grow facial hair. It's biological. We don't require military personnel to all be bald, do we?

Pete has stated that the rank and file be shaved, just like the beds have to be made properly,
dress shoes properly shined, etc.
Although, special forces can have beards.

I was with VXE-6 and Operation Deep Freeze back in the early’70s. We all had beards.

It is not unreasonable for the guy that implements a policy, to ban those from attending his events if they do not comply with that policy. Try to bear in mind, everything is political, and the press will be at his events. Thus, it is not an unreasonable policy.

Who says they aren't in compliance?

Hegseth is being bribed by Gillette. Go with that, Creepy Tush. You'll get lots of thought-so from your cult.
Don't be stupider than you have to be, kid.

He's a martinet, trying to make like he's tough because nobody respects him.

Biden/Fauci kicked out Soldiers for refusing to take the jab from an unproven hastily concocted "vaccine" that was killing healthy adults about their age. Which is worse?

This was always the standard in the military. Unless you had a skin condition that made shaving painful, you had to be shaven. A mustache that didn't extend beyond the corner of your mouth was acceptable.
And it’s always been the case that there are certain conditions which would parent a soldier from participating in an event or ceremony. This is nothing new.

" Religion Does Not Fit The Profile "

* Sectarian Supremacist Fictional Ishmaelism Activists *

Yes, all correct. I was in the Army from 1982 to 1993. I never saw a non-black soldier with a shaving profile, though I'm sure there have been some.
Anyway, Pete Hegseth is the Secretary of War, thus second only to Trump in a soldier's chain of command. Honestly, that ends any argument, unless Trump over-rules him.
A shaving profile could be restricted to stubble by using a trimmer and not a razor ; however m even that accommodation is not sufficient for terrorist facilitators of fictional ishmaelism .

SSgt Alpha is assigned to Base Y, as a dental technician. He submitted a “Request for ReligiousAccommodation for Grooming Standards.” Specifically, he requested an exemption from the prohibition of wearing beards for non-medical reasons contained in AFI 36-2903, Dress and Personal Appearance of Air Force Personnel, 18 July 2011, Incorporating Through Change 4,28 May 2015. In support of his request, he stated he is as an active participant in the Islamic faith, the tenets of which restrict him from shaving his facial hair. He relied on various hadith passages,a major source of guidance for Muslims, reflecting the importance of the beard in the Islamic faith. For example, his memorandum states, “The Prophet (PBUH) says: ‘Trim closely the moustache, and let the beard flow (Grow).’”

Yes, I was a young lieutenant I was S4 on the staff at a Battalion that was about to have a change of command ceremony. The outgoing commander, a Lieutenant Colonel, seemed to believe it was his final moment in the sun and went a little Bridezilla on us. He stated in the staff meeting, "I don't want any fat guys or gals on the stage with me." That turned out to include the Battalion S1, whose spot was given to the Lieutenant in charge of operations.

The S1 was within regulation weight limits, was very well liked, and of course embarassed to be excluded. But, the commander was the commander, so we went along with it. Far worse things happen to soldiers than being embarassed to assuage the vanity of a senior officer. If that were too much for him, the Army would not be the life for him.

What’s his problem?

Is he one of those guys who can’t grow proper facial hair and he’s hates guys who can?

Why? What possible reason for this?
Because he said so, that's why.

It's called discipline, and shaving is just part of it.
You start chipping away at that, and then something else.
Why aren't you bitching about the Reveille?
Why aren't you bitching about the time breakfast is served?

Hegseth’s just posturing. He’s trying to act like he’s a badass

There’s logic behind no obese soldiers. There’s zero logic to saying all soldiers have to be clean shaven, especially in a society where 75% of men today have some sort of facial hair

The point made was that there would be no more shaving waivers except in very extreme and rare circumstances. Hegseth is reestablishing what once was standard military discipline--no beards, no long hair, etc. etc.

One of Patton's lines from the movie "Patton":

Gentlemen, from this moment, any man without leggings, without a helmet, without a tie, any man with unshined shoes or soiled uniform is going to be skinned.

WWII military protocol pretty much also outlawed any facial hair, including mustaches, except in extreme circumstances such as prolonged battle situations in which shaving was impractical.
When has long hair or long beards ever been allowed other than with a shaving profile?
