I find it hard to believe but I don't live in a liberal town/county....Maybe in NOtVA where homes are all 600K+.

Housing affordability is top of mind for Americans watching average property prices steadily creep up in their area. As tempting as it may be to blame the changes on high interest rates, rapidly accelerating population growth or the construction delays and economic fallout still resonating from the lockdown era, there is another potentially greater and more easily remedied contributor to exorbitant housing costs.

Based on the research, the costs associated with requirements put forth by local, state and federal governments now account for a staggering 26.4% of the final price of a new single-family home, adding to an average of $131,734.

Quite a vague, generalization of the issue. I can build houses without all those things being done.

So I imagine the argument will be "well if you want to build in Martha's Vineyard you have to do this and this and this".......

Building in Martha's Vineyard in no way represents the average house.
