I've been honestly trying to sus out why so many seemingly normal people would vote for trump. After much consideration, and research, I came across an article that convinced me the search was a waste of time. There is no rational reason why anyone would vote for Trump. When his supporters publicly announce that Trump is Hitler, but they voted for him anyway because we need a dictator, there is no logical reason for their support.

It is really a powerful indictment on the lack of leadership and concern for Americans that Trump was elected twice. This isn't just a single event,.this is over.12 years and three election cycles. The open border to me is the most egregious, I see very little benefit to America with such a policy. Essentially Americans are just.looking for a hero who will not only make bold promises but will act on them. His second term has far motre.challenges. Obama for all his faults had better policies than Biden and his admnistration seemed to be more competent but maybe I'm wrong. Now Trump has to save the rest of the West too from itself. Incredible.

One of the best things about this election has been watching the blowhards who believe they are intellectually superior scramble to make excuses for being wrong about everything. You being one of them, just don't get it.

You lost because you had a crappy candidate foisted on you. A crappy candidate who spent a billion dollars trying to convince people that she was competent enough to be the President of the United States. But her performance over the last four years screamed otherwise.

So you lost.

I've seen several interviews in which they say we need a dictator, and he's the one to do it. I have no doubt that a pretty solid percentage of them here would say it, but they know not to. They know that's not what America is.

As always, this isn't about him. It's about a country that wants that. They'll overlook EVERYTHING about him to get it, and that's a long list.

I guess half the country so so miserable and desperate and hopeless that it will turn the keys to this person. I didn't know this. I get it now, but I sure didn't before.

Your post is a heap of confirmation bias sandwiched on top of bushel of false premise. The one thing you're having trouble with is the word choice.
You don't want it to be available for anyone but yourself.

What should have happened differently?

Should they have censored all the pro Trump media? Should they have restricted the vote?

What should have been done to get the election the way you wanted it?

20% of workers are paid minimum wage, averaging $15/hr or so. Basic needs of a family cannot be met by full time work. This has been going on for quite a while, during governments of both parties. Perhaps a lot of people couldn't be bothered voting for more of the same from either party.

As the WaPo said, the key to a Kamala victory was turnout. Kamala had found almost nothing she'd do differently from Joe, so she said. She must have been believed. That 20% wasn't going to turn out for more of the same.

I've seen many references to that one question in that one interview. It really sounds like a turning point, and I wonder if the person who asked it, regrets doing so.

Economic reporting and data gathering in the US is skewed to the better off, whom, for one example, are less affected by the price of housing, because they're less likely to rent, etc., etc..
