CUT SPENDING_--we can't not afford to spend any more. Chop up the credit cards, kick out the illegals, stop the welfare nonsense, stop paying people to loaf around, end the EIC nonsense and so much more.

have you ever voted for anyone that wanted to do these things?

Your post lies about the 2019 Budget, here is the truth, $1.1T deficit due to tax cuts trying to grow the US economy.
View attachment 544362

Now look at WTF the democrats want to pass, Its just CRAZY!! $3T deficit, due to overspending.
View attachment 544363
This is the difference in the type of borrowing...

When Bush invaded Iraq he was allowed to take the war spending out of the Budget Deficit stating that it was a one off cost and shouldn't be part
Trump didn't "spend" he cut taxes. Big difference.
Obama added $12T to the Debt. Trump "only" added $8T. Xiden would smash those records.
What they didn't tell you on Fox or some other right wing media:

Hey idiot, the Trump tax cuts (that helped everybody, not just the rich like you liars claim) brought in record revenues to the government. Did you refuse the Trump tax cut and pay the higher former rates? No? Then shut up.
Wish I could have. It COST me $2500

And like all tax cuts...they did NOT pay for themselves. They added 1.5T to the debt

except for the VA, DOD and DHS, and what he added to those was far more than what would have been cut from the rest.
sadly those areas needed and continue to need funding...have you seen the border?? have you seen the new threat of terror thanks to Xiden?

He refused to sign a bill that didn't fund border security...the Dems refused to fund it.

Therein....the Dem shut it down
Nope, it doesn't work that way.... First, Congress decides and has final say on how we spend money, not the executive branch or president.

The president CHOSE not to sign the bills that were passed in the House and Senate to fund the govt.

President Trump said he WOULD sign the bill keeping our govt opened without the border funding. It passed both houses.

THEN Trump CHANGED HIS MIND and decided not to sign the bill already passed to fund the govt, due to right wing MEDIA PUNDITS complaint about there not being funding for the wall.

That set the CHAOS off....

Yeah, the Dems refused, just like Mexico did.
Actually Mexico, under Trump, set up to the plate on border security...sending troops to their southern border, allowing us to keep people in place, in Mexico while applying for refugee status.

It was a wonderful thing...sadly Xiden reversed course, and literally made things a million times worse for us and Mexico. The Mexican President even called out Xiden for his horrible cartel supporting policies.

And this is why we have 29 trillion dollars in debt. Both sides are more than happy to spend money we do not have on things they agree with.

You literally contridicted yourself in your own post.

Congress obviously doesn't have final say, unless they can overright a Presidential veto.

Congress couldn't do that....and the Dems acted in bad faith negiotating until the last minute to make border security a political issue in the midterms, then cut in ran after there was an agreement when they won the midterms...and refused to fund it.

True...however, little is going to be done by cutting a department here and there...the largest drivers of debt are SS, Medicare, and Medicaid...until there is reform there cutting a billion from the Dept of Ag, or DOD, or the VA won't do or matter much

I did screw up in sequence and missed a few steps

Trump initially said he would shut the govt down if he did not get $5.7 billion for the wall.

Then Trump changed his mind.

Then, the house passed a bill without funding for the wall because Ryan got word Trump would sign it.

Then the senate brought up and passed a bill WITHOUT WALL FUNDING, because McConnell was told president Trump WOULD sign it.

Then, Trump got criticism from Anne Coulter and other right wing media pundits about him being a wussy by giving in...a no good nothing....

So Trump changed his wishy washy stance AGAIN and said he would NOT sign the house and senate bills that had been voted on and passed, he initially told the republican leaders he would sign....

So Ryan and Mitch DITCHED the bills that were voted on and passed in both chambers of congress, and did NOT send a bill to Trump to only VETO..... to 'save face' for the president and the embarrassment of a veto override.

No, its not social security and Medicare that is the problem... The dept of defense could cut $300 billion a year, and still be triple what we spent in defense in 2000....the military industrial complex gets most of the income tax monies collected.

Social security and Medicare gets most of their funding from separate payroll taxes they collect from workers.

Medicaid, can not be cut, because that would be, inhumane.

Yes....they are the biggest drivers of our national debt...even your Dear Leader Obama admitted that

"Medicare and Medicaid are the single biggest drivers of the federal deficit and the federal debt by a huge margin."
true
mostly-true

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi knocked former President Donald Trump as she criticized Republicans for failing to support a measure to avert a government shutdown.

Are there Democrat Voters who actually believe anything that Pelosi says anymore?
Maybe their malicious hate has rotted their tiny brains.
The Democrats control the Presidency, the House and the Senate.
They can pass their $5 trillion dollar looting spree bill without any GOP votes.
The Democrats are like greedy muggers fighting over a stolen wallet.
Their Looting Spree Bill will enslave American workers to government debt for generations, but, these corrupt crackpot fanatic thieves don't care as long as they can get their kick-back deals.

The republicans can at least not filibuster it.

It's not the democrats who are going to shutdown the government again.

It's the republicans.

All they have to do is either vote for it or at least not filibuster it.

All of this is republicans. Not democrats.

They proudly declared they will not vote to raise the limit and that they will filibuster it.

If republicans believed in democracy and representative government they would at least not filibuster the debt limit.

Take responsibility for what you do for once.

You republicans are such cowards.

This is another example of the Democrats attempting to extort the Republican party. The biggest example of them doing so was when a memo Obama sent out was leaked. In the memo Obama ordered his agency directors to make the coming shutdown 'as painful as possible' to the American people and how they would then blame the Republicans. During that shutdown they tried to close open-air memorials, like the Viet Nam Vet and Lincoln memorials. Obama even tried to shut down an historical Va restaurant the govt did not even own - it was a privately-owned business.

Democrat SOP:

1. LIE / FEAR-MONGER: (Can you spot the Democrat lies below?)
- The US military will not be funded, leaving our nation defenseless
- Your Social Security Checks will be withheld / will not go out
- Food Stamps, Welfare, etc... will not go out
- The ENTIRE US govt will slose down and ALL US govt employees will be out of work
- Govt Employees will not be paid and will lose money
- etc...

2. BLAME THE REPUBLICANS

Trump caused the shutdown, he refused to pass the bills raising the debt, that the house and senate had passed, after he said he would sign them....then he changed his mind again, because two talk radio/ right wing media hosts trashed him for it....

Beginning of shutdown

Donald Trump meets with Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer on December 11, 2018, stating "I will be the one to shut it down."

On December 11, President Trump held a televised meeting with Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer in the Oval Office and asked them to support an appropriation of $5.7 billion for funding of a border wall along the U.S. southern border with Mexico. They refused, resulting in an argument between Trump and both Congressional leaders. During the contentious discussion, Trump remarked, "I am proud to shut down the government for border security ... I will be the one to shut [the government] down. I'm not going to blame you for it ... I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down." Schumer replied, "We shouldn't shut down the government over a dispute."[33]

Three days later, Politico reported that Trump was willing to sign a bill with no funding for a border wall that delayed a government shutdown into 2019 and the new Congress.[34] On December 18, following a meeting with Trump, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said that the government would not shut down on December 22 and that Trump was "flexible" over funding for a border wall. Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby commented that the most likely resolution was a bill that funded the government until early February. Schumer added that his caucus would "very seriously" consider such a bill and Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn said "I don't know anybody on the Hill that wants a shutdown, and I think all the president's advisers are telling him this would not be good."[35]

On December 19, the Senate passed a second continuing resolution (H.R. 695) that would fund the government until February 8, 2019. Pelosi announced that House Democrats would support the measure, meaning it would overcome opposition from conservative Republicans and pass the House.[36] On December 20, following increased criticism from conservative media, pundits, and political figures,[37][38] Trump reversed his position and declared that he would not sign any funding bill that did not include border wall funding. The same day, the House passed a continuing resolution that included $5 billion for the wall and $8 billion in disaster aid.[12] This bill failed in the Senate.[39] Trump's changing position caused consternation among Senate Republicans.[37][40]

More to read in this article.

The Dems wouldn't fund border security...the Dems caused the shutdown....and obviously we are seeing the horrible results currently of not funding border security properly.
