Do you wish that each other in your church … or whatever religious building you visit?

We do.

I've always hated that ritual: "Stand up, turn around, greet the person behind you and next to you, shake their hand and say "Good morning." It's all Happy Horseshit to me.

Besides, I have an aversion to shaking other people's cold, clammy hands because I can imagine where those hands have been.

You don't know what lies behind those friendly faces.

That's why I always carried my concealed Glock when I went to church.

I don't care for it. In the Catholic church, we go from the Our Father to the "sign of Peace", to the Lamb of God, which is right before the Holy Communion, and greeting everybody in between seems to break up what, IMHO, is a nice prayerful silence.

I guess I'd like the Traditional Latin Mass because it contains a lot more silence.

The thing I like about the sign of Peace is the fact that I sit with a really wonderful four generation family, and the youngest is a very sweet three year old girl who is loving learning all the grown-up parts of the Mass, and she loves greeting everybody! She also loves it when we give her our collection envelopes so she can put them all in the basket, and she also collects the hymnals and puts them all back in the rack. I'm very gratified to see the children wanting to be involved in the Mass.

Our priest is like you, but he still shakes everyone's hand at the end of Mass. I don't like seeing it because his health can be a bit fragile and I hate seeing him catching whatever is going around.
