Employers seem to want something for nothing. (Such as them wanting big tax breaks at the expense of the poor) They seem to want educated workers. Though not too educated. Or those seeking the work will just be told that they are overqualified for the job. It is because the educated have a value to society that the government pays for children to get a high school diploma. But many drop out. So I have a better idea that I stated for the title of this thread. Actually pay children to go to school. That would make dropping out less likely to happen. And the better their grades, the more pay they would get. It would teach children a valuable life lesson from an early age. That if they want money, they need to work for it.

Another point is why should employers get educated workers for free. Also, when I was a child, I got an allowance each week. Which was enough to go see a movie. But some people are so poor that they can't afford to give their children an allowance. Paying children to go so school would fix that. On top of that, the wealthy would probably like to think that their children are all superior and shit. Because they are the children of wealth people! Well put that to the test. The children of the wealthy don't need the money. Put them up against children that have an incentive to do well in school. Let's see how those "superior" children stack up.

But let's not stop there. Actually pay young adults to go to college. From what I was reading, there are several countries that do so. If they can afford to do it, why shouldn't we?

This makes about as much sense as California's program to pay thugs not to commit crimes. Maybe pay dead beat dads to not leave their shorties, compensate drug pimps to not beat their hoes. The possibilities are endless. Should Cities Pay Criminals to Not Commit Crimes?

That is Wayyyyyy, different! Also, I have never heard of a program anywhere that pays thugs to not commit crimes. But there is something governments could do that would work far better. Give people ******* employment! At a livable wage. By taxing the living shit out of the wealthy! For example, I was reading that a full time employee at WalMart may still eligible for medicaid and food stamps. Why? Because like the workers at many other places, they are basically wage slaves.

Teach them that smart kids get it easy?

If you pay them, they will be able to watch the movie instead of reading the book.

tldr

But get out your wallet and pay them. Who's stopping you?

You don't understand. He/she wants everyone ELSE to pay for it. That's the only fair way to do it, after all. He/she has already done their duty by posting on the interwebs about it.

Precisely why employers won't hire you.

No. Teach kids that they should expect pay for their work. Such as school work. Also, where in the hell would you get the stupid idea that smart kids get it easy. Unless you're a natural genius, things just don't work that way. Also, what does being highly educated mean? Most often that your employers will expect more from you. That isn't easy. Another good point on that comes from a lyric of the song "Welcome to the machine" by Pink Floyd. It says, "You didn't like school. You know you're nobody's fool." To that end, for example, I heard that in China they have hordes of unemployed engineers. (Though in China, they have hordes of everything) Becoming an engineer isn't easy. Imagine going through all that only to find yourself unemployed.

Also, if you are highly educated, what you do has to be done right. If it isn't, there are severe consequences. Such as screwing up the plans and construction of a bridge or high rise building. Fixing it wouldn't be cheap or easy. Or what if you are a doctor and screw something up. Then somebody's life is at stake. That isn't easy either.

Well, because I went to school with some kids who did nothing, and got good grades, and others who worked hard and didn't get good grades.

If you're paying the kids with the good grades more... then it shows the latter that life sucks, might as well give up now.

How about we discuss things truthfully. When I was going to school, unless the teacher said so in class on some particular test, I never knew what grades other students got. Neither did I care to know. Hell, I never knew what grades my friends got. So I am doubtful that you had any idea what grades other students got.

Next, I see no harm on paying students a little something extra if they get good grades. But in classes other than science, the only thing you would be working to get good grades at would be in learning BS propaganda. I would prefer to get paid less in that case.

Get this, I didn't go to your school.

In Chemistry we did a test, and I hated the Chemistry teacher. I got the top grade and the teacher told everyone and asked if I wanted to come to the front of class to look at my test. I said no, I had no interest in talking to him.

You don't see harm in paying students. I do. Mostly because I work in education.

"See harm in paying students?" You know what this thread is all about. I say we SHOULD be paying students to go to school. Why shouldn't we. After all, don't students do school WORK? Why should anybody not get paid for doing work. Does an education benefit you? Sure. But it benefits your employer too. In fact, it is a benefit to society in general. Why shouldn't society pay for something that is beneficial to it.

If you make it about paying kids, you'll probably end up with lots of fraud.

Good teachers are able to motivate students without paying money.

If good teachers can't motivate, then there's something wrong with society and this needs to be fixed.

I'm not saying education doesn't benefit people. I'm saying that motivating in a manner like money is going to cause problems.
