Everyone was made to feel like a part of a new Abbey Road chapter, whilst dancing with the ghosts in the room. Paul played piano and joked around between takes, sharing his memories, embracing the past - and his modern-day cast. I stayed long enough to witness Meryl Streep (the most generous and graceful of all) in action, before slinking away to my kids, trying not to wonder what I was missing via Kate Moss on the late shift. (Should have got a babysitter?). We skipped homework and I taught them Let it Be on the piano and let it be.
By the time I left, a crowd had gathered outside Abbey Road Studios and Paul walked me out past the girls and the graffiti and went back for a dance with Meryl. If I was a director I'd probably have just given Meryl a long solo lip-synch and cut out the young pretenders but, luckily, I'm not - and there we all are. Blink and you'll miss me but it was one of those days to remember, a hop and a skip from home, yet somehow a million miles away.
