Plenty of reasons.

Maybe they could also hold free elections.
Not our problem
China and Vietnam don’t have free elections

US Corporations lost their sweetheart deal with Batista.
Think of how much money they could make by opening the Cuban market to US Goods

Wasn’t the Norks

But we have a healthy economic relationship with Vietnam and thousands of Americans visit every year.

Why not Cuba?
Advantages:
*Ideal location for tourism
*Mexico is currently in civil war levels of violence. Even tourist areas formerly off limits are now subject to increasing violence.
*Cuba Libre!
*Not a job drain if we open trade.
*Aid relations?

Disadvantages:
*Dictatorship. Trading with dictatorships - do we want to do that more (of course we do that now) or less.
*Not TexMex or Mex. Their queso skills are suspect.
*Cuban economy unlikely to support increased imports of goods from the US. No net gain (detriment to Mexico).

Our neck of the woods. The US has always taken more interest in things in our own Hemisphere.

Let the Cubans think the same thing and come to an agreement on restitution.

We can figure it out when they agree to it as part of lifting the sanctions.
How much US property did N Vietnam seize.
US Corporations we’re making a fortune in S Vietnam

We just let it go.
Why not let go of the Butthurt with Cuba?

I just spoke with a client that returned last Friday from 2 weeks in Cuba and said the place was overwhelmed with American tourists. I asked him about the blackout and he said that was mostly Havana and not the whole island. Don't know where he was but said many had generators if the power did go out.

Most US corporations got out of dodge when the Treaty of Paris was signed, because they knew the NV's and the VC wouldn't follow it.

Why not Cuba just admit it and work to fix it?

They are the ones who fucked up and picked the wrong side.

The Cubans have nothing to give as restitution thanks to 62 years of sanctions.

The good news is that people like you are dying off daily and soon will be gone and the US can quit being dicks to the whole world

The Cuban Revolution is ancient history

Time to let go

I have no sympathy for US Corporations and the Mafia who lost money in Cuba

They made a sweetheart deal with Batista to use the Cuban Government to exploit Cuban labor for massive profits.
They were the cause of the Revolution in the first place

US Corporations made a deal with a corrupt Cuban Government and lost money.

Why should I care?

The Panamanian ambassador to the United Nations (UN), Eloy Alfaro, during his speech at the twenty-eighth plenary session of the General Assembly of the world organization, condemned the fact that the hostile policy has harmed Cuba for more than six decades.

Alfaro recalled in his speech that at the UN, year after year, for more than three decades, this project has received almost unanimous support from the international community.

But “today, once again, Panama reaffirms its firm conviction in the importance of lifting these restrictive measures,” in a clear allusion to the embargo that the United States maintains against Cuba,

Alfaro insisted that the US blockade is an unsustainable barrier to development and economic opportunities on the island.

I knew I liked this country for a reason!

Well done Panama.
Isnt Harpy part of the Mind Own Business crowd?

I guess that restriction only applies to countries he dislikes
