Palestine originated as a Roman name imposed on Jews and ancient Israel about 2000 years ago and about 500 years before Muslims existed.

Roman palestine referred to ancient Philistines, non-indigenous, non-Semitic (Greek) invaders to Israel. So, Romans were adding insult to injury.

The British first coined the term “palestinian” for Jews in British palestine after WW1. Romans first renamed ancient Israel palaestina however they did not call Jews palestinians nor did Jews themselves
