"Pain Management" in America

My chronic pain has been around for a long time. I still go to doctors. I take Advil. I take some prescribed meds for the sciatica and other back problems (discs and arthritis, etc.) But I also have started taking THC gummies, periodically.

I'm sorry hear about your chronic pain.
That's why I'm up at around 2 AM and naps around here are impossible due to the dogs, cats, delivery people, friends, repairmen, landscaping projects etc.
Therefore, I've been running on about 3 - 4 hours of sleep lately .

I've also noticed that the gummies seem to help with mood, pain and making tedious chores tolerable.

Good luck,

Most of the chronic pain patients I know personally have a hard time getting just maintenance drugs prescribed by their doctors these days and instead get stupid things "lose weight" as if someone who can barely walk can exercise more.

So you've noticed that same "Catch 22"?

I was a paratrooper in the US Military over 50 years ago and hit the ground pretty hard with about 60 pounds of gear more than a few times.

I know that I need to lose some weight but can barely walk or do my usual exercises.

My old pain management doctor had also been in the US Military, was in Laos about the same time I was and the same was true with the '73 War.
Unfortunately, he can no longer practice or prescribe pain meds so, I'm looking for some someone who also deals with chronic pain issues rather than some pompous and judgmental narcophobe.

Good luck,

A good friend of mine has scoliosis and he had reached a point where he was lucky if he could get an hour of sleep a night.

He was literally dying.

Then he found a acupuncturist down in Reno and that Doctor is a miracle worker. My friend is now out of pain, and living life again.

No drugs.

I'm always happy for someone who has found an effective way to treat chronic pain.

I've tried everything but acupuncture but since I've got 6 joints / old injuries that hurt, I wouldn't know where to start.

Thanks,

It is timely that you mention this as I have scoliolis and had sesrched for the impact it can have on nerve.damage. If not for the pain behind my eye, sensitivity to light etc it might be a more my primary focus. It still might be a culprit

There`s an easier way to lose weight than exercising. Stop eating sweets. Humorist Dave Barry has suggested a diet of tree bark and unsweetened celery. :D

Easy. Sell my home, put some away for retirement and use the rest to move.

There are some who don't want that to occur I'm afraid. Criminals who spit on the graves of men who died for our freedom.

Well, it looks like you've found your own solution.
I can't imagine how anyone could condemn you for solving your own problem. Who cares what other people think.
Taking care of yourself is not being selfish so enjoy yourself.

Good luck,

Thanks,
I did accupuncture in 2019 for sciatica. It did work, but was expensive and slow. I was lucky to find a really good massage therapist and that works better for me.

Thanks for the input.

While acupuncture may work well with sciatica, I've got 2 artificial hips that are over 25 years old and need to have at least one knee replaced.

I think that it was W.C. Fields who said:

"If I'd known that I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself."

Thanks again & good luck,
