I am starting Ozempic on Monday. I got my first pen last Thursday and decided to wait until Monday to start so I could eat like crap for my last weekend.

I am a Type 2 diabetic and I could stand to lose around 50lbs. I understand that the biggest side effects are upset stomach, gas, and diarrhea. I was told to eat smaller portions and stay away from fried foods and this should mitigate the issues. But I also read all sorts of horror stories. I assume most horror stories result from taking too much of the drug or not eating right.

Does anyone here take Ozempic, and have you suffered side effects? Thanks.

I am also curious about how this will go. I thought about it a few months ago, but started a diet on my own when I read about some of the unpleasant side effects.

Recognize how side effects work. If a side effect is very rare, they still have to mention it, so maybe you won't have any trouble. I assume you plan to eat reasonably regardless, eh?

Keep posting as this plays out.

Yeah, I am going to change my diet and eat smaller portions and stay away from fried foods. I really want to avoid the stomach issues.

Only side effect I have had is when I increased my dosage to a higher level when my doctor told me to increase it. I was traveling and the pen I used ran out the morning I left at half of the new dose. I drove 12 hours and then broke out a new pen for the remainder of the increased dose. That was a big mistake. The next morning when I awakened, I was severely dizzy and unable to walk straight. I threw up mostly stomach gas and clear liquid. I laid back down and after a few hours, and I quickly recovered. My best friend also takes it, and he had to reduce his dose when he had similar symptoms with a higher dosage. The next week I took the higher dose all at once and had no problems.

The drug works. I very seldom get hungry. I started the medication in September at approximately 230 pounds. I weighed this morning at 210. I weigh less now than I did in high school. My blood sugar has plummeted, and I have reduced my insulin for my diabetes by about 40 percent. I can no longer eat large quantities of even low carb food. I went on a week-long cruise and gained little to nothing. It is amazing!

Once again, modern medicine turns it back on a drug they already had which back in the 1970s I took which was fast, cheap, safe and effective. Instead, they have once again replaced it with a drug which is INSANELY EXPENSIVE, and has enormous dangerous side effects.

I take Ozempic, and have been for about 5 years now.

I haven't had any side effects that I can tell.

Although..........it keeps me from gaining weight, it does not help me LOSE weight.

I've tried some of the other variations of this drug, but they don't do anything for me at all, except have me gain more weight.

Not insanely expensive if covered by insurance. Ozempic is now the preferred treatment for MASH, which will reduce the need for liver transplants.

What was this 1970s miracle drug you are talking about? Methamphetamines?

Has your doctor increased your dosage?

FWIW, I started a 1200 cal/day diet on Labor Day at 213 pounds and weighed in on Thanksgiving at 185. No drugs, just cutting back. I'm continuing to scale back for December, then I'm going back on the diet in January, hoping to get to 175 (I'm 5'11"). Still, I'm curious about how people make it with Ozempic.

Mortimer started a thread on this topic a couple of months ago. He’s taking it.

What drug? Speed? That stuff isn’t so safe.

I sure hate their commercials and the rest of the drugs that destroy classic popular music.
They spend all that money on commercials which costs money which raises drug prices.

The initial dose was .5mg. I think your doctor screwed you, no offense.
He's not the best, thats for sure. I can tell he's a "company man".

I miss my previous Dr. He was awesome, but he went to a consierge practice, which costs $2500.00 a year out of pocket, up front, and I don't have that kind of spending money.
