Over a BILLION Yahoo accounts hacked

Why would I give a fuck if my Yahoo account got hacked? :gives:

Because it contains some personal information like your name, address, date of birth, phone numbers... and if someone else can view your account they can get other information?

Why would you even take the time to reply to this thread if you don't really give a fuck?

No it doesn't.

Really? It doesn't? Let me cut and paste the direct email from yahoo to its users.

We are writing to inform you about a data security issue that may involve your Yahoo account information. We have taken steps to secure your account and are working closely with law enforcement.

What Happened?

Law enforcement provided Yahoo in November 2016 with data files that a third party claimed was Yahoo user data. We analyzed this data with the assistance of outside forensic experts and found that it appears to be Yahoo user data. Based on further analysis of this data by the forensic experts, we believe an unauthorized third party, in August 2013, stole data associated with a broader set of user accounts, including yours. We have not been able to identify the intrusion associated with this theft. We believe this incident is likely distinct from the incident we disclosed on September 22, 2016.

What Information Was Involved?

The stolen user account information may have included names, email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, hashed passwords (using MD5) and, in some cases, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers. Not all of these data elements may have been present for your account. The investigation indicates that the stolen information did not include passwords in clear text, payment card data, or bank account information. Payment card data and bank account information are not stored in the system we believe was affected.

What We Are Doing

We are taking action to protect our users:

  • We are requiring potentially affected users to change their passwords.
  • We invalidated unencrypted security questions and answers so that they cannot be used to access an account.
  • We continuously enhance our safeguards and systems that detect and prevent unauthorized access to user accounts.
What You Can Do

We encourage you to follow these security recommendations:

  • Change your passwords and security questions and answers for any other accounts on which you used the same or similar information used for your Yahoo account.
  • Review all of your accounts for suspicious activity.
  • Be cautious of any unsolicited communications that ask for your personal information or refer you to a web page asking for personal information.
  • Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from suspicious emails.
Additionally, please consider using Yahoo Account Key, a simple authentication tool that eliminates the need to use a password on Yahoo altogether.

Protecting your information is important to us and we work continuously to strengthen our defenses.

Why would I give a fuck if my Yahoo account got hacked? :gives:

If your emails only pertain to grabbing pussy or just regular conversation then there is nothing to worry. But if your communications consist of sensitive materials like me then I have tons to worry about.
My yahoo account was hacked late 2014. Suddenly the format is different, can't change my password, have to open every single garbage email, lots of attachments, can't delete emails, there is this 800 numbers keep popping up.
I know then that I was in trouble. So I Called the 800 number and they are asking for a fee to fix it and long terms. I think that was their specialty. Can't remember how much but I played along .......... told him I will the wire the money as soon as I have it. Then I called my friend who work for apple at Cupertino then he called his wife that works for yahoo. Gave me the link where I can reset my account. Wala back to business.
After that I change my PW regularly.

Only idiots would have that kind of info in an email account, or anywhere else on their personal computers. Only idiots would ever use a credit card or do their banking online.

Why would you even take the time to reply to this thread if you don't really give a fuck?

Why do you give a fuck about him not giving a fuck?

Yes, it's true. I just checked my email and it is confirmed, over a possible BILLION Yahoo accounts hacked. You might want to check your email and change your password ASAP.

Yahoo reveals new hack, this time a billion-plus users

It happened 3 years ago, you'd know if you'd been hacked. I changed my password etc ages ago anyway when they revealed it before. Yahoo has become pretty piss poor lately.

Uh... dumbass if you have an email account now with some places like Yahoo, you have to put that information on there, so in case it gets compromised you have to provide that information to reset the password and fix it.

Good try though!

Yes because I want to keep my account, the one I use to register for all the stuff I use. Maybe one day You'll get hacked and you'll be screwed. In fact I hope it happens one day, it seems like you need to be taught a lessen. :bye1:

lol ... It's simple enough for people with IQ's over 10; you just use a notification method like another email addy, which Yahoo used to use, at another site or server. And of course don't put anything private in an email account or anywhere else that is unnecessary. I'm sure this will confuse you on how it works, and you probably also hand out your info to sites like Facebook and anywhere else that asks for it and you will be hacked over and over and over again the rest of your life. All anybody is going to get from hacking me anywhere is bored, which is why I never worry about it at all.
