Look for this nonsense phrase to be used copiously during the coming hearings for USSC Nominee Barrett. There is no such thing as a legal "mainstream."

It has no meaning. It is not a legal principle or a Constitutional principle. It is merely a way of saying that one disagrees with the nominee's judicial or legal philosophy.

Americans have a general attitude towards the law and what should be allowed. If surveys show most people are against criminalizing certain activities the law should generally reflect that. That's what is meant by "mainstream". Banning everything that might offend the church ladies has always proven to be unpopular but the right tries to do it anyway. We are not a bunch of children who are incapable of making our own decisions about our bodies and our lives.

'Out of the mainstream' is shorthand for 'Outside the Mainstream Protestant Academic Consensus' for any particular topic.

But this is an irrelevant thing today as the Main Stream Protestant academic institutions are now controled by full blown Marxist subversives and need to be purged.
