MONTREAL - Police say a van found in downtown Montreal loaded with guns and explosives likely belonged to an organized crime group.
A section of the city's downtown was cordoned off for several hours on Tuesday and 300 people were forced to leave area office buildings after police received a tip about the van.
Police bomb experts used a robot to examine the rented Mazda MPV parked on René Lévesque Boulevard near the Panama and Costa Rica consulates.
Inside the van, police found 15 guns and as much as 135 kilograms of explosives.
The firearms included automatic weapons, semi-automatic machine guns and handguns.
Police said they believe the weapons cache are linked to organized crime, but wouldn't say which group they believe is involved.

I am not familiar with Canadian organized crime so dont know if this is typical. It sure sounds a lot like terrorist activity though.
