Have had my eye out for one for awhile but they were well over 200 semoleons.

Found this one on Amazon for $113 with great reviews to give it a try.



Will update when I get to try it out.

Claims to pressurize up to 15 psi.

Downside, it's small...not much help for large batch canning from the garden...but I think it will be nice for small batch canning...like meats, soups and jellies.


You can only process 5 pints or 4 quarts under pressure...and only pints for water bath method.

That can't be right. Air pressure at sea level is already at 14.7 psi.

The upside is that an American made one with 21 qrt capacity (a little over twice the volume) costs over $550.

I believe10.5 psi pressure at sea level is the standard for USDA safe home canning protocols...to maintain 240°F for the entire processing cycle.

For $550 I'll just use the old fashion manual rocker style pressure canner.

I only paid a couple hundred more than that for the Ford pickup I've been driving for twenty years.

I'm guessing then that the gauges are calibrated to read zero pressure at room temperature and the 10.5 pounds pressure is 10.5 pounds over sea level.

For $550 I'll just use the old fashion manual rocker style pressure canner.
To be sure, $585 buys you one stinking nice American made large pro-quality canner!
