We are a nation pretending to operate like a European nation but really we just pick and choose which institutions to overfund. This has been going on for years, multiple stories, it will never change. It's one tragic incident after another as oir most cherished healthcare has become deathcare. RIP Finlay. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ont-teen-death-1.7616220.
An Ontario family is calling on the provincial government to introduce legislation that would set maximum emergency room wait times for children after their teenage son died following an eight-hour wait for a doctor in a hospital last year.

GJ and Hazel van der Werken, of Burlington, Ont., said their 16-year-old son, Finlay, had a few days of mild illness and was suffering from migraines before his condition began to worsen. Hazel rushed him to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Feb. 7, 2024, she said.

"We go through to the normal emergency department which was filled with a lot of people, just the whole corridor was just full of people in chairs," Hazel recalled in an interview Thursday. "That was where Finlay was calling out in pain."

Mar 7, 2025 — A newly filed lawsuit alleges a woman died after waiting 10 hours to see a doctor at Des Moines' Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

The owner of two central Iowa hospitals and two of its physicians are now facing lawsuits over patient deaths and the alleged violation of federal laws governing emergency room treatment.

Two of the lawsuits are tied to patient care involving a man who allegedly died after twice being discharged from the emergency room at Central Iowa Hospital Corp.’s Methodist West Hospital, located in West Des Moines.

A third lawsuit stems from the death of a woman who allegedly waited 10 hours to see a physician at Central Iowa Hospital Corp.’s Iowa Methodist Medical Center, located in Des Moines, before going into cardiac arrest.

Yes, but notice in your system there are lawsuits and accountability. Canada is last in the G20 in Access to Justice. It is why as I get older and hopefully wiser, I think about government and society in a more deep and serene manner. I have started to respect Scandanavian countries and how they operate some aspects of government, especially healthcare, crime and the general disposition towards one another that more logical treatment fosters. They understand how important it is to have a collective system of contributing citizens, to look out for one another instead of a class system. As long as they can protect their systems they will have more patriotic citizens than some countries such as the UK or Canada. Americas greatest strength is your Constitution and defense of freedom. I really hope Trump is able to defend them without becoming a.Neo-Con or following the disasterous war on drugs that Reagan fell into. In fact, that is the one policy most Conservatives ironically criticism him on. I digress...healthcare is important and all advanced nations should be able to cure most of their citizens with some reasonable degree of compassion. There has to be a balance between free market and compassion.

ITs a failure in Canada and in the UK the NHS is collapsing.

And the UK had the Tories in power for 14 years, taking money from the NHS and other essential services and putting it in their own pockets.

Socialized medicine is failte because its run by the government

Well, any healthcare run by people who don't run it well is going to fail.

If healthcare is run by a government that doesn't want that socialized healthcare and prefers a system where people have to pay through the nose, except rich people who pay less, then it will fail.

If the masses want better healthcare, they have to protect it from the rich.

Hopefully clearing out the illegals will shorten those waits but I don't think that's all of it.

Which means what?
WTF?
US for profit healthcare sucks.
The NHS in the UK is collapsing Canada is a disaster.
The US healthcare system is collapsing and is a disaster.
The US has the best healthcare in the world

You're FOS.

Health outcomes: US vs. UK

AI Overview
Overall, the UK generally experiences better health outcomes compared to the US, despite the US spending significantly more on healthcare per capita. Life expectancy is higher in the UK, and the UK also has lower rates of infant and maternal mortality. The US, on the other hand, faces challenges with healthcare disparities and has a higher per capita rate of preventable deaths.

do you know what they missed? I have worked in ERs-----not at all uncommon in USA emergency
rooms too. Someone missed something----maybe a subdural hematoma or a subarachnoid bleed.
EASY to miss

WTF do you think the US healthcare system is doing?

760 hospitals at risk of closure, state by state

Jun 30, 2025 — Nearly 800 rural US hospitals are at risk of closure due to financial problems, with about 40% of those hospitals at immediate risk of closure.

The UK should adopt the US healthcare system, I'll wait for a vote on that.
