So, my last class at the day school for a Tuesday usually has around 35 students. Today, since many kids were taking the MCAS exam, the regular schedule of classes started later. If you give kids the opportunity to start doing something else with their day, they will. The end result? My last period had a grand total of ONE student in class. It was kind of ridiculous. The one student who showed up is one of those students the other teachers avoid. I think he's a great kid, but not a great student. In fact, he has done very little actual work this year. Today, since it was just him, he really put in an effort and got a ton of work done! At one point during class we got some of the other kids on facetime and gave them a hard time about not being there. They'll get theirs in the next class!
