When Liberals seek knowledge, they go to the NYTimes. When conservatives seek knowledge, we go to the Bible.
And therein we discover that FOREVER is the time span for how long human nature remains exactly the same.
1. When I was studying Dennis Prager’s book “Genesis,” I was surprised to find him pointing to three short verses that he states, “are among the most important in the Torah.”
26.13 and the man grew richer and richer until he was very wealthy:
26.14 he acquired flocks and herds, and a large household, so that the Philistines envied him.
26.15 And the Philistines stopped up all the wells which his father’s servants had dug in the days of his father Abraham, filling them with earth.
And in many today, we see a similar response to those more successful.
2. A central them of socialism/communism/Leftism is that working toward their final stage for society, they claim that they will alter human nature. “The birth of "The New Soviet Man" was the stated aim of Marxism, breeding a new evolutionary form of human being who will think, look, and act differently. The Nazis claimed to do exactly the same thing: "We must create a new man! A new life form should appear!"
"In both systems we have the ideology of creating a new man. Both systems don't agree with human nature as it is...they are at war with human nature. Both are based on false biology, and false sociology."
Françoise Thom, professor of Soviet history, Sorbonne, Paris
Mao’s Cultural Revolution: “Phrases like “rebellion against authority,” “revolution in education,” “destroying an old world so a new one could be born,” and “creating new man”—all of which attracted many in the West in the 1960s—were interpreted as calls for violent action.” Chang, “Wild Swans”
Hillary Rodham gave the student commencement address at Wellesley in which she said that “for too long our leaders have used politics as the art of making what appears to be impossible, possible….We’re not interested in social reconstruction; it’s human reconstruction.” Page Redirection
3. The Old Testament was written, although not compiled, almost three millennia ago, yet it’s statements about human nature are accurate today: the envy and jealousy written about in those three verses certainly applies today. “…human nature doesn’t change. These verses encapsulate Jewish and human history. Instead of emulating the successful, most people envy them, and then often wish to destroy their wealth— and sometimes even them.”
Prager, Op.Cit.
4. Never have the Leftist’s claims about the ability to alter human nature come to fruition, and they never will. It seems clear that human nature isn’t malleable. There always was, and will be, jealousy and envy, and greed, what we call self-interest. The problem is that at one time envy and jealousy was considered a flaw of character, but no longer.
Sociologist Helmut Schoeck’s observation: “Since the end of the Second World War, however, a new ‘ethic’ has come into being, according to which the envious man is perfectly acceptable. Progressively fewer individuals and groups are ashamed of their envy, but instead make out that its existence in their temperaments axiomatically proves the existence of ‘social injustice,’ which must be eliminated for their benefit.” Helmut Schoeck, “Envy: A Theory of Social Behavior,” p. 179
Essentially, that means that society no longer advances the characteristics such as self-respect, personal responsibility, and the work ethic. Instead, we honor 'socialism.'
