Omar Fateh - Minneapolis' socialist version of Zohran Mamdani for mayor

Yes! He looks just like the lead pirate on Captain Phillips.

Minnesota State Senator Omar Fateh has officially entered the race for Mayor of Minneapolis, promising a sweeping left-wing overhaul of city policies in a campaign that is already drawing comparisons to New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani.

Fateh, 35, is a self-described democratic socialist and son of Somali immigrants. In a campaign launch video posted Sunday, he said Minneapolis is becoming increasingly unaffordable for working-class residents and pledged to implement a radical slate of policies to “fix” the issue.

  • Fateh’s proposals include:
    • Raising the minimum wage to $20/hour
    • Rent stabilization policies (effectively capping rent increases)
    • Non-cooperation with ICE and federal immigration enforcement
    • “Diversifying” public safety by diverting 911 calls away from police
      • More funding for social workers and alternative response teams

    • Critics warn the plan would cripple small businesses, depress housing development, and further reduce police capacity

Omar Fateh:

Look at me. I almost mayor now.

Sigh, interact with the average Minneapolis resident for a few minutes and you'll realize that he is going to be the next mayor.....Yes, they're that "odd".

That said....As neither a resident of Minneapolis nor NYC, I think it's great. The residents get what they want and we get to see the results with no danger to ourselves from a safe distance. :)
The left may have to live under a communist politburo in order to understand the results of their actions.

Communism is a disease which has progressed much too far in places like NYC and Minneapolis, where it is fast approaching a fatal ending. The poorly educated but heavily brainwashed people in these places may have reached the point of no return.

NYC will see the downfall first. As Mandami heavily taxes the wealthy whites (which he has said he will do), they will move outside the city. He then desperately will lower the definition of “wealthy” and start claiming the earnings of the merely upper-middle class whites, and they too will flee. Soon the only people left in the city will be the “takers” - but with no tax base to provide it. The city will fail.

The problem is, it will spread. The NYC welfare recipients will search for new “givers,” and they too will leave - putting a big tax burden on neighboring states. And the cycle will repeat.

If Mondami wins, as it appears he will, it will be a disaster.
