Its attributed to Doris Day but folks here swear it's Ella Fitzgerald singing. What do USMB music lovers say.

2Doris 2Ella if it is Ella I wonder if those that posted this on line will be in legal trouble?

You posted Doris.

What some on YouTube are saying is that recording of Blue Moon saying its Doris Day a lot on YouTube are saying it is really Ella Fitzgerald .Someone screwed up posting it as Doris Day.

I found a list of not all but 85 of Doris Days recordings and Blue Moon is not among those. It stated there 8 more recordings not listed. So maybe the video in post 1 maybe as deplorable said in above post.

They may be correct. At first blush it sounded like Doris Day to me. I just ran both videos through SoundHound and it came back with Ella Fitzgerald both times...

In the list of songs recorded by Doris Day, Blue Moon is not among them...

My research assistant opines "
Ella Fitzgerald recorded "Blue Moon" in 1956 as part of her album Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Rodgers and Hart Song Book

Doris Day, on the other hand, never released a widely known version of "Blue Moon" before that date, and there is no record of her having recorded it earlier.

So, Ella Fitzgerald sang "Blue Moon" first between the two."
