It’s crazy how little of an influence high elite players have on a baseball team.

Trout was considered the best player in baseball for years.. but barely to no playoffs.

you have to be playing on a good team to make the playoffs....

Ohtani is way over paid on this....and he hasnt put up those numbers yet....mantle hit 40 homers 4x.....so far Ohtani has done it 2x....3 MVP's for mantle,2x for Ohtani....

Correction: Mantle had over 40 homers FOUR times, including twice with over 50 homers.
Also Mantle hit over .300 10 times. Ohtani did once.
Mantle had over 100 RBIs 4 times. Ohtani once,
Mantle had over 100 BBs 10 times. Ohtani never,
Mantle's lifetime BA - .298 Ohtani - .274
Mantle OB% - .421 Ohtani - .366

Ohtani looks like he has blossomed into an all star, but he has a long way to go to match up with Mikey Mantle (and many other past all stars ex. Stan Musial, Ted Williiams, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Willie Mays, etc)

Stop it, you silly old man. You said he hit over forty homers twice in that span: it was once. Ohtani has done it twice. They are close at 173 to 171. If Ohtani stays healthy whereas Mantle did not, Ohtani will probably eclipse Mantle's totals.
