As an additional point, which I don't think Musk considered. If Trumps team was keeping this list hidden to protect the names of so many powerful people, Trump might now feel forced by Musks comment order the names released so he can debunk any false allegations in the files.

HOWEVER, this release would be on Musk, making enemies with some of the most politically powerful people on earth.

If everything we all know about Trump hasn't convinced people about his unworthiness, it is highly unlikely anything else would accomplish the feat. The only reason he is President is that the two parties that control elections only offered him and someone so unfit that it gave enough people who voted the excuse to cast votes for him.
