Thrust into office on the veracity of hope, President Barack Obama is trying to get himself on the right side of a remarkably different national sentiment these days: anger.
All that angst that Obama wants to harness as a force for change as he did in his campaign will turn against him. That means eroding public support for his agenda and potentially big losses for his party this year in congressional midterm elections.
"Fat cat" bankers, lobbyists, insurance companies, the media, even the Supreme Court. Obama has targeted all of them in trying to show people that he is on the regular guy's side.
"It's perhaps a winning strategy in the short term," said David Gergen, a political analyst and former adviser to four presidents. "It will help to align him with those who are frustrated. But it is not a winning strategy over the long haul. You can't run for re-election pointing to all the things that are wrong with the system."

Running for President is easy.
Being President is hard.
Great job regurgitating Beck's radio show from last week. Word for Word.
And as for OldandTired's comment that "economies don't need to be run"...you're mistaken. As long as there have been religions and governments, there has never been this mythical "free market" that people have started speaking about recently. Yes, there is an invisible hand to all economies, but governments and authorities have always shaped the way economies have run.
Furthermore, without "running an economy" there would be so many inequities and predatory practices that we'd be living in a dark age.

yup, especially with partisan hacks, stupid politial commentators making shit up, starting petty attacks, turning mundane things into a big deal and getting the ignorant common man to believe these stupidities.
Yawn, yet another thread full of the blind Obama bashers making baseless assertions about Obama, yet again. Nothing new here folks, will see this on every thread related to Obama. Same tired bullshit over and over again

It gets your attention....and it also gets the attention of intelligent people with substantive responses...both from the left and the right.

You won't know what intelligent is if you think most of the shit being spewed about Obama are legitimate criticism of him.
It's all in Saul Alinsky's 'Rules for Radicals.' This President will create division where there is none. You must freeze, polarize, then destroy your opponent. A good Marxist Community Organizer must seek out anger and resentment. Then he or she must exploit and stoke the fires of resentment. This President does not fear anger. He will even create it if he has to. People who are angry and bitter tend to act more. Anger & division are good things for a Community Organizer. It really is a War against his own people with this President. He follows what Mao and Alinsky instructed with absolute obedience. He is fully embracing a War against his own people. In fact he relishes it. Most people don't understand this but this is true of this President. People need to read up on Saul Alinsky's 'Rules for Radicals' to better understand this President and current Democrats. Hopefully his strategies will fail and backfire on him. I guess we'll see though.
And you see none of the same from the conservative side of things?
If you see ANYTHING that relates to conservatism in Alinsky thinking then you have absolutely no idea of what conservativism really is.
A true conservative does not even think about his opponent. A true conservative does not look at "classes"...
A true conservative believes in creating his or her own destiny without the crutch of blaming others for his or her failure...
I am surprised you can even think about applying Alinsky to conservatism.
You are truly misguided if you do.

I submit that in the true spirit of conservatism you all are well and truly screwed. Going by your own words in bold above. True conservatives would not run smear campaigns yet they do frequently. True conservatives would not even think about using elitism as a wedge issue yet they do frequently. And do you really want me to make the ties about how what is in red does not apply to ANYONE in Washington right now.
If you honestly think that conservatives are above:
"You must freeze, polarize, then destroy your opponent."
"seek out anger and resentment. Then he or she must exploit and stoke the fires of resentment."
"This President does not fear anger. He will even create it if he has to."
If you can not see how this applies to the former administration as well as many others in the past then my friend it might be time to take a second look at history.
Proof pleaseThis Community Organizer President and the Democrats didn't get swept into power based on "Hope." That is a Liberal Media manufactured fantasy.
Proof please. They were swept into power based on anger, resentment, and hate. They got the power back by pushing that whole "I hate Bush & Cheney" hysteria. The Liberal Media of course helped them push that propaganda. "Hope" had absolutely nothing to do with it. It was all anger & resentment.
Both parties are guilty of using anger resentment and hate in every campaign where have you been? Now the Republicans will regain some power by pushing the same kind of anger, resentment, and hate. They will not be swept back into power based on "Hope" either. That's the tough thing with Alinsky's rules. They can backfire on you. This Community Organizer might just reap what he sowed in the end.

Anger and resentment for real? It could not possibly be because the opposition put up a token woman for VP who was totally not qualified and the real candidate flipped on so many things disingenuous is a compliment to him.

Yes...both parties are guilty of that.
Not all people fall into it.
I vote based on my sentiments of a candidate...not based on the hatred he or she has for his opponent or his predecessor.
