Obamacare Deadlock Drags On, But One Healthcare Fix Could Slash Medical Costs Nationwide

27 Nov 2025 ~~ By Melissa O'Rourke

The debate over expiring Obamacare subsidies has dominated national political discourse, but some experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation that Republicans could capitalize on growing momentum around price transparency to help lower healthcare costs for Americans.
The record-setting government shutdown was driven by Democrats’ refusal to budge on the expiring Obamacare premium subsidies, which they passed in 2021 without GOP support and set to expire at the end of 2025. Republicans are still debating their healthcare proposal, including whether to back a limited extension of those subsidies.
Even without a resolution on the subsidies in sight, some experts note that more can be done to build on the healthcare-related measures already taken. That includes President Donald Trump’s February executive order directing agencies to fulfill “radical price transparency” and require the disclosure of the actual prices of healthcare services.
Proponents of the executive order say that further measures could drive down costs by increasing competition and giving Americans more control over their healthcare spending.

Trump’s executive order builds on an earlier order he signed in 2019, which required hospitals and health plans to provide price estimates for certain services. Shortly before leaving office in 2021, the president also signed the No Surprises Act, which bans surprise medical bills, requires providers to offer good-faith estimates of expected charges, and directs insurers to send patients an advanced explanation of benefits (AEOB).
f fully implemented, price transparency regulations could yield as much as $80 billion in annual healthcare savings, according to some estimates.

Meanwhile, Democrats have made the impending expiration of enhanced ACA subsidies, along with broader Republican healthcare reforms, a top midterm attack line. They warn that without an extension, premiums will surge for millions of Americans and thousands will die, framing any Republican opposition as an attempt to gut Obamacare.

Commentary:
I'm surprised that no one brought up the Marxist, Socialist Commie Jonathan Gruber, one of the key architects of Obamacare.
Gruber said in 2013 that passing Obamacare in the first place relied on a "lack of transparency." That is why San Fran Nan the Vulture Pelosi, said they needed to pass the bill to find out what is in it.
Grubers exact words were "Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical for the thing to pass."
Obamacare is a pillar of Democrat grift and vote-buying. It bankrupting the nation, but they do not care.
They also will stop at nothing to keep it from being eliminated.
If we would allow Insurance Companies to sell policies across state lines and therefore nationwide the competition would be significant and the economies of scale would benefit premium payers. Insurance Company ABC issues policies and has doctor networks in several states with a wide range or regulatory nonsense to deal with. Insurance costs more in some states than others because of this but the company operates nationally. So the higher costs in NY or CA for example are spread across lower cost in NC or FL. Even national insurer Blue Cross & Blue Shield has to operate with state level affiliates and isn't available in some states. Each state has different tax codes, regulations etc making it over complex and more costly. Same goes for property and casualty players who decide to abandon markets after natural disasters leaving far higher prices in hurricane, fire or tornado prone states. If you want to offer insurance you have to offer it everywhere. Get the State insurance Commissions out of the way and set National Standards.
We should keep in mind that Obamacare was enacted into law with zero Republican input or support. The DSA Democrat filth own this 100%.
The Obamacare premium subsidies expiration date was also passed into law with zero Republican input or support.
DSA Democrat vermin also own this 100%.

It is time to end Obamacare and put a better plan forward.

The answer is simple: MOAR SOSHULISM!!!

There's only 20 million or so on Obamacare, so it really isn't the problem it's made out to be. If those 20 million would take good care of their health the problem would decrease substantially.

The authority to compel health care price transparency derives from . . . Obamacare.

This gets it backwards. The reason there's no price transparency is that there's no demand for price transparency. And there's no demand for price transparency because no one cares what their health care costs. And no one cares what their health care costs because no one is paying for their own health care.

Transparency won't matter if we don't fix that first.

So we are the greatest nation in the world. Yet, healthcare is a huge issue. Hmmmm
