President Obama is canceling plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow next month — a rare diplomatic snub.

The move is retribution for Russia's decision to grant temporary asylum to National Security Agency leaker Edward Snowden. It also reflects growing U.S. frustration with Russia on several other issues, including missile defense and human rights.

A top White House official says Obama still attends to plan the Group of 20 economic summit in St. Petersburg, Russia, but has no plans to meet with Putin there one-on-one.

Thank God.... It is hard to watch him kiss the ass of every communist/socialist dictator and Muslim terrorist he comes in contact with.... With him not meeting Putin maybe he wont embarrass us.... Doubt it though.

He said that about obama. Not Snowden.

He's right. obama never has anything of substance to say.

Putin wasn't referring personally to either Snowden or Obama when he said:

"In any case, I would not like to deal with such issues because it is like shearing a pig, There's lots of squealing, and little fleece."

He was talking about the whole issue of asylum and the diplomatic rigamarole that surrounds it.

I'm not rooting for anyone here... frankly, the jury's still out on what Snowden's motives were. I'm not in the "he's a hero" crowd or the "he's a traitor" crowd yet. At this point, I don't give a rats ass what happens to him.

All I'm saying is that it is ridiculous to even put Obama in the same league with Putin. Putin is a seasoned KGB guy, a seasoned bureaucrat and quite ruthless.
