If he tried to then he did a pretty poor job.

We have two rovers on Mars.

JWST was successfully deployed.

Probes have been launched to asteroids.

Orion is still being developed.

Ares 1 and Ares V became “SLS”.

These days I find SpaceX’s stuff more impressive.

Meanwhile, with the Space Shuttle program winding down, the Obama administration worked to broaden the space commercialization effort, giving money to private companies to develop spacecraft that could carry astronauts to orbit.

In a briefing with reporters last month, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine specifically acknowledged the work of Charles Bolden, Obama’s NASA administrator, who he said helped make the SpaceX launch possible.

“This is a program that demonstrates the success when you have continuity of purpose going from one administration to the next,” Bridenstine said.
