Keystone would have driven the cost of gas up, and likely would have lead to layoffs when American businesses struggled to deal with even higher pump prices. Would have sucked for the economy.

Obama administration rejects Keystone oil pipeline - Yahoo! News
I guess those Canadian born and bred terrorist will have to fund their attacks on Americans some other way.
The U.S. consumes 15 million barrels of oil each day and imports 10 to 11 million barrels per day. Industry forecasts predict oil consumption will continue at these levels for the next two to three decades, so a secure supply of crude oil is critical to U.S. energy security.
Keystone XL is shovel-ready. TransCanada is poised to put 13,000 Americans to work to construct the pipeline - pipefitters, welders, mechanics, electricians, heavy equipment operators, among other jobs - in addition to 7,000 manufacturing jobs that would be created across the U.S. Additionally, local businesses along the pipeline route will benefit from the 118,000 spin-off jobs Keystone XL will create through increased business for local goods and service providers.

the project is expected to create over seven million hours of labor and over 13,000 new jobs for American workers.
The Project Labor Agreement is with the Laborers International Union of North America, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL-CIO, the International Union of Operating Engineers and the Pipeline Contractors Association.

He's all about making the Arab economy better, so they can arm our enemies. and jobs? who needs ******* jobs.. unemployment is GOOD for the economy.
This does in no way make Obama a gutless *****. Just because you thought the pipeline was a good idea, doesnt mean it actually was.
a gutless ***** is what he is. and that's a fact. he turned it down for purely political reasons. what an asswipe.
Got it. So everything the Republicans have done in the past 3 year was done for the same reason, purely political reasons to ensure that President Obama is limited to one term. What a bunch of gutless pussies they are.
Shit, DC is filled with gutless wonders.....![]()
Isn't it amazing that 'states rights' are out the window, and the feds are supposed to dictate when right wingers don't like the decision or who made it?
The debate over this pipeline has been going on at the community and state level. But it's really not their property, it's the fed's property...
IRONY...
Just another example of how this president is not serious about putting people back to work.

This pipeline is every bit as much about benefiting "Little Oil" as "Big Oil".
That's a fact.
There are tens of thousands of marginal (2 barrels/day) wells owned by small independent companies scattered across the midwest. These people's commodity is land-locked.
How about shutting down rail systems that carry grain to market?

Yeah! I think it was bad decision made by Obama but there were some compulsion for such decision. He rejected the oil pipe line project from Canada to US state that could open thousands of jobs opportunities. To me, The main reasons of the rejection of the project was told to be the lack of time to review the project. But one thing is good in US that North Dakota is in boom these days. There are lots of jobs in this field in the state.

What I don't understand is the left's logic of not allowing this country to use the resources that are already available here, as well as from a close ally like Canada. Instead other nations, like those in the Mid East region, ought to have the job of drilling and providing this country with oil. Then they complain that it's the Republicans who are choosing to send profitable long term jobs overseas, as well as whine that our nation's military is spread overseas protecting our vital interests (oil) instead of closing bases and bringing them all home. I seriously doubt the left have thought this whole thing through with how their "beliefs" have effected the future of this country, in terms of job security as well as our nation's dependence and vulnerability to other nations in not so friendly parts of the world. If we are to eventually see an increase in gas prices to over $5 a gallon, we will only have the left and the Democrats to place blame.
