Is the bailout good or bad?
I know! Let's ask somebody who is super-duper smarterish than we are.
Whoops! All we have is Obama.
Actually L'il 'O has decided to not interfere with Businomics:
Far be it for me to play the cynic...
...BUT...
...methink L'il 'O is voting presently present so he can game the outcome of the bailout. If it works he can claim credit for it like the Stimulus Package he claimed was his and the expense of losing the "worst economic policy since the Depression" meme.
If the bailout falters he can deny ever having supported it.
All in all he's playing with people's livelihoods for personal gain and he is wholly without principle or scruples. Not to mention he's not nearly as smart as people want to believe he is.

Jonathan Martin's Blog: Obama outraged at being accused of not supporting something he doesn't support - Politico.comObama, on the trail in New Mexico, had this to say of McCain:
"And today he accused me of not supporting what the Treasury and the Federal Reserve Bank did with AIG despite no evidence whatsoever that thats what I had said."
To recap, when I wrote earlier today that Obama supported the bailout, I quickly was instructed by his staff that this was not the case. He just didn't oppose it, I was told.
Now he's so adamant about not opposing the Fed's move that he's complaining about McCain's portrayal.
Where, I wonder, is the line between not opposing and, ya know, supporting.

Obama supports U.S. economic recovery efforts - Yahoo! NewsWASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said on Friday he supported efforts by the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve to shore up confidence in the financial markets and said he would hold off from presenting his own economic recovery plan.
"The events of the last few days have made it clear that we must take further bold and decisive action to shore up confidence in our financial markets and avoid a deepening economic crisis that could jeopardize the life savings and well-being of millions of Americans," Obama said in a statement.
Obama said he supported efforts by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke to work with the Congressional leadership to find a solution to the deepening crisis.
...
"Given the gravity of this situation, and based on conversations I have had with both Secretary Paulson and Chairman Bernanke, I have asked my economic team to refrain from presenting a more detailed blue-print of how an immediate plan might be structured until the Treasury and the Federal Reserve have had an opportunity to present their proposal."
Obama said it was critical that the markets and public have confidence in the Fed and Treasury's efforts and that their work be "unimpeded by partisan wrangling."
