Wow. Please L-rd allow me to keep my.faculties. Almost 5% of all deaths in Canada are via assisted suicide. Do Americans believe they care about citizens? Do they care about telling the truth to Americans about ANYthing? Canada euthanasia now accounts for nearly one in 20 deaths.
The rate of medical assistance in dying - also known as euthanasia - has grown in Canada for the fifth straight year, albeit at a slower pace.
The country released its fifth annual report since legalising assisted dying in 2016, which for the first time included data on the ethnicity of those seeking euthanasia.
Around 15,300 people underwent assisted dying last year, accounting for 4.7% of deaths in the country. Canada lawmakers are currently seeking to expand access to euthanasia to cover people with mental illnesses by 2027.
Canada is among a few countries that have introduced assisted dying laws in the past decade. Others include Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Austria.

Makes sense to me. What better, easier way to lower insurance costs that to deny patients health care then help them bump themselves off do to poor health?

And why is this a bad thing?

Most people seeking assisted suicide are already terminal with no hope of survival and looking at weeks or months of pain.

It should be pointed out that in Canada, 4500 people engaged in DIY suicide, so 15,300 assisted suicides doesn't sound so bad.

There’s a big difference between living being alive.

When my time comes I hope Canada is still offering this service

Some of you people are sick. You don't know all of the details about who and under what conditions, you just assume the most ideal circumstance.

Neither do you, you just assume the government is going around killing people for funsies.

Because when you were a teen, some cop gave you a well-deserved slap down.
Silence fool, you are uninformed.

Many of these people have psychological issues and there are questions about them even being killed.

It goes beyond what happened to me as a teen. You need to stop bending the knee to Canadian police. Do you stand for our anthem and sleep with a Canadian flag as your blanket too?

Do you know the details?
Yes, I've posted it on here, not that you would care to do any reasonable research on the issue or read the articles.

It was so bad that soldiers were going to hospitals for help with PTSD and they were being handed a pamphlet for assisted suicide services.

The government decided to roll back and delay the decisions on these types of assisted suicides due to the outrage from some. You can be sure it is still being applied as people get creative.

Now, it isn't as if I don't feel sympathy. I can tell you though that there are a myriad of reasons why someone wishes to leave this earth, especially in the unaccountable Police State in Canada; but the state shouldn't be supporting it in many instances.

I imagine each case is different but that Canada does not allow frivolous euthanasia

I wish our country would allow people to die with dignity

I only visited your country twice. No one was mean to me while I was there.

Shit, if the weather wasn't shit, I'd consider emigrating.

But to the point...

Unlike many other countries, Canada doesn’t require that patients exhaust all medical treatments before seeking death.

After legalizing euthanasia in 2016, Canada broadened its law in 2021 to allow people with incurable, but not terminal, conditions – including disability alone – to seek a way to die. This vastly expanded the number of people eligible, and medical groups in some territories and provinces require doctors to inform, offer or help provide euthanasia to any patients who might qualify.

Adults with serious, incurable conditions must have a written request approved by two independent doctors or nurse practitioners. Those with nonterminal cases must be informed of other ways to relieve their suffering, among other requirements, and there’s a minimum 90-day assessment period.

None of this sounds terribly unreasonable to me.

Here's the thing. We have the medical technology to prolong life of people who would have never lasted this long even 50 years ago. There has to be a point where you say, "enough is enough."

Quality of life that is horribly doesn't improve with quantity of life.

Now, if the Canadian government was encouraging suicide as a cost-saving measure, you MIGHT have a point.
