"People are comparing this to the dreaded blizzard of '77, where Buffalo first got its reputation for having an unprecedented amount of snow. We broke that record again a month ago so it's very clear to me that the effects of climate change are wreaking havoc everywhere."

Of course. Unclear if it was climate change that caused the dreaded blizzard of '77, or if that was just weather. We'll stand by on that until some moronic politician let's us know. Any wingnut claiming that this is climate change - not global warming - they are the same thing. In the goofy world of liberal "climate science", climate change is caused by man-made global warming.

What happens in Buffalo is not indicative of what happens everywhere. This wasn't even a major storm. It was really cold in many areas, granted.

There have been many winter storms that have done far more damage. Far more snow. Just as cold if not quite as widespread.

There are lessons to be learned here. I was watching a video clip from a Cleveland news channel concerning the huge storm in either 77 or 78 (happened both years) where they were saying people needed to conserve energy and that businesses that could should shut down.

Here we are 45 years later and our infrastructure hasn't improved. We have wasted trillions in overseas spending though. Useless wars. Undermining the economies of other countries. Bribes, graft, theft..................

The reason for the change from global warming to climate change was because there was no significant rise in temperatures for more than a decade so they changed the name. Now the loons can point at any weather event and call it climate change.

We also went into human infrastructure changing where resources went. People were a heartier bunch in other decades.

In 1977 ... temperatures were 1ºC cooler ... which is equal to instrumentation error ... so this change may not be real, just we don't use accurate enough thermometers ... like measuring gasoline by the tablespoon and having to add one extra to fill your car's gas tank ... who cares? ... (try adjusting your points more often than every 50,000 miles) ...

Hochul is an ignoramus. Doesn't know the difference between "weather" and "climate". This is a WEATHER event in western New York state. What is changing is the "CLiMATE". Big difference that is always pointed out to me.

They didn't have social media to bitch on.
Social media was after the fact. After the infection as it was. The education system changed completely in the early 1970, s after its slow incorporation into world politics a couple of decades before.

Meh, Buffalo is supposed to enjoy slightly above seasonal temps next week same as here.

And the talking point next week will be extreme climate shifts are more proof that we must embrace a green new future.
