NPR: Tennessee is about to become the 1st state to make camping on public land a felony

Yes. Slave labor is also an option. Fuck paying them, just hie them out for free, like in the good olds days, gives those Sheriffs reasons to arrest anybody whenever they have customers for slaves.

Work is rewarding. Work for food and shelter? Better than sitting, cold, alone, hungry, staring into the night.

NPR sob story follows:
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. Miranda Atnip lost her home during the coronavirus pandemic after her boyfriend moved out and she fell behind on bills. Living in a car, the 34-year-old worries every day about getting money for food, finding somewhere to shower, and saving up enough money for an apartment where her three children can live with her again.

Now she has a new worry: Tennessee is about to become the first U.S. state to make it a felony to camp on local public property such as parks.

"Honestly, it's going to be hard," Atnip said of the law, which takes effect July 1. "I don't know where else to go."

Tennessee already made it a felony in 2020 to camp on most state-owned property. In pushing the expansion, Sen. Paul Bailey noted that no one has been convicted under that law and said he doesn't expect this one to be enforced much, either.

Neither does Luke Eldridge, a man who has worked with homeless people in the city of Cookeville and supports Bailey's plan in part because he hopes it will spur people who care about the homeless to work with him on long-term solutions.

The law requires that violators receive at least 24 hours notice before an arrest. The felony charge is punishable by up to six years in prison and the loss of voting rights.

"It's going to be up to prosecutors ... if they want to issue a felony," Bailey said. "But it's only going to come to that if people really don't want to move."

People in other (sane) places look at Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and other places overrun with the homeless and they know what's coming with continued dem rule so they figure they gotta do something......Shit's out of control.....Do private property (squatters) next.

Folks always say "Someone should do something.".......This is someone doing something. ;)
Meanwhile there were jobs absolutely everywhere during the same time period.
As well as everyone received $1000s in free Covid windfall $$, didn't have to pay rent and unemployment compensations was extended to the moon with even more money piled on top of that.

So yeah... I call bullshit.

And the GOP giveaway to the rich tax rates continue to make America more and more wonderful, as in the worst inequality upward mobility poverty and homelessness ever anywhere in the modern world by far. Great job!

Maybe the rich would be willing to pay 1 million adults, kids and pets to have a house and food with utilities and trash removal for free forever since they don't work.
Ask them. If they want to pony up $500B startup then $100B per year or so amongst them and their buddies to place all these people.

Putting all the poor in jail is gonna cost them a pretty penny.
But thus kind of crap is good for headlines if you are a deplorable MAGA politician.

Red meat for the idiots.
Don't the idiots ever catch on that they are the ones being made fools of?

Some don't get it. Land to live on is not the issue. You have to have sanitation, trash removal, transportation, security, Utilities.

No women and children can go lay on dirt for 30 days with blankets in a vacant lot without a bathroom! You can't work without a bathroom! A place to clean up. A secure place to lock your stuff up! You can't live in the wild with animals like animals. Few single males can survive that.

Did you fix the flat tire on your house yet?

Make it a felony to provide government assistance or a paycheck to migrants.

Technically that would be illegal since when we bought FL, TX, NM, AZ, CA, UT, NV. etc., from Mexico, we ensured free movement of migrant workers from Mexico. Remember almost all of those states technically are still owned by Spanish land grants that cannot be given, lost, or sold to non-Mexicans or natives.

Great news!!

What's your address, again?

I have almost a dozen addresses, because I learned the system.
All you have to do is come up with the credit rating, and then they tenants buy the building for you.
Its totally unfair.
The landlords then get all the tax breaks, the renters get none, and the landlords inflate the property prices to the point people can't afford to buy any more.

It would not be illegela in any way shape or form.

We did not buy those states from Mexico and there was NO assurance of free movement.

Spanish land grants are irrelevant and mean nothing.

What people have to remember is that since no one really created any of the land they claim to own, there really is no legal basis to claim ownership of any land.

Humans came from millions of years of evolution on being hunter/gatherers without land ownership.
It is then wrong to start claiming land ownership, without at least preserving something for others.
WRONG

Hunter gatherers owned land
