How does she even win this since their timetable is 15 yrs in the future?
2040 is still 16 years away, so WTF is this batshit crazy loon basing this on?
I tried to explain it in the PS section of the OP since it is kind of mind boggling.
From the lawsuit...
"Across its marketing materials, the JBS Group has made sweeping
representations to consumers about its commitment to reducing its greenhouse gas
emissions, claiming that it will be “Net Zero by 2040.”
The JBS Group, however, has had no viable plan to meet its
commitment to be “Net Zero by 2040.”
...
The JBS Group has repeatedly and persistently made unsubstantiated
and misleading environmental marketing claims to New York consumers, even after
NAD and the Review Board found such claims to be unsubstantiated and
recommended that the JBS Group stop making them.
The JBS Group has profited from its fraudulent and illegal business
activities across New York State."
Basically, her claim is that right now the company is making false advertising claims that increase their market share. She notes that JBS runs advertising about its pledge, including a 2021 full-page ad in the NYT.
She goes on to state how JBS is a big corp with lots of money and that it is responsible for Amazon deforestation and has carbon emissions on the scale of Ireland.
Bottom line is she is saying the company is making false claims now about future performance they have no plans of actually achieving. She's nuts all right. It's a money grab, and another stunt to get press coverage to propel her political career as an extremist "Progressive."
