Not a great time to be messing around with the NIH.

Except it was. Anyone who was overweight or had a history of hypertension had substantially higher risk.

Maybe if this country weren’t so unhealthy, you’d have a better argument but we are have a lot of people at risk. More so in the red states too.

Not substantially. I have high blood pressure and am considered overwieght, but not by much. With 1 shot COVID was a mild flu/bad cold for me the first time, and not even a cold the 2nd and third.

US reports first outbreak of H5N9 bird flu in poultry

PARIS, Jan 27 (Reuters) - The United States has reported its first outbreak of H5N9 bird flu in poultry on a duck farm in California, the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) said on Monday.
U.S. authorities also detected the more common H5N1 strain on the same farm in Merced County, California, they said in a report to Paris-based WOAH, adding that the almost 119,000 birds on the farm had been killed by Dec. 2.
Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), commonly called bird flu, has spread around the globe in recent years, leading to the culling of hundreds of millions of poultry. It also spread to dozens of mammal species, including dairy cows in the U.S. and killed a person in Louisiana.

NIH Activities Grind to Halt Under Trump Comms Freeze

Hopefully, we don't see a repeat of trump's botched response to COVID we saw during trump 1.0. Not to equate the bird flu with a global pandemic. It's just not the time to be playing politics with...........well...........everything........including the NIH.

Most of it based on the delusional bullshit about the fictitious deep state.
Well, we see who sparks Berg's interest.....Maddow really sparked something with you? Day late, and dollar short, but hey it takes time to come up with such pervasive lying, doesn't it? :laughing0301:

Good for you. The vaccine lowered your risk dramatically which is good because you were at high risk given your “serious” medical conditions.

And I haven't got any of the boosters.

And I did just fine. Last time I got COVID was less than a year ago, where many of you are up to booster what, 5 or 6?

We were told it would prevent us from getting it, and from spreading it, things we now know were lies.

The fact that you haven’t gotten any boosters isn’t all that significant. Your immune system is apparently somewhat weak given you’re rate of reinfection, but its not surprising that your subsequent illnesses have been less severe.

You dodged a bullet the first time. Was it during late 2021? Delta was bad.

It's not weak, it's stronger than yours. I work in wastewater, and unlike you probably I have to go to work every day, no work from home, with large groups of people.

I didn't doge anything. I got what was the equivalent of a moderate flu, which is all COVID turns out to be for most people.

In 2016 I got the actual flu, and that was far far worse.

You were vaccinated, goofball. That provided considerable protection from death from COVID.

And I chose to be. After that I chose to not get boosters, but got pressured to get them. Luckily the craze died down before it became mandatory to be boosted.

It's funny how your side railed against the shot when Trump was in power, but then made forcing it on everyone and lying about it's effectiveness all the rage when he was out of office.

Downplaying the severity of COVID because you were vaccinated isn’t the own you think it is.

Ignoring the data that COVID was nowhere near as lethal as we thought it was in those first few weeks will lead to people not trusting the government if and when the next one comes, and if that one actually does have a 5% mortality rate, then any lack of concern on the publics part falls squarely on those who overhyped COVID when they knew it wasn't as bad as they originally thought it was.

You don’t remember what happened to New York City? It wasn’t good. People saw that. We didn’t want that to happen in every US city and it would have if we had done nothing.

Trump managed the response in NYC?

What I remember is people going mask crazy, and not even wearing the damn things properly.

Stored refusing to see things like seeds and furniture over idiotic closure laws.

Bars closed, restaurants closed, but mass protests allowed for some reason.

Even parks being closed. Parks. Outdoors. With Space.

I don’t know what Trump did or didn’t do in NYC, but we clearly saw had bad COVID got in a major population center if you didn’t do something about it.

NYC was run by the Dems, as usual, and they overeacted as dems do, as usual.

How is NYC supposed to react when they’re hit with the biggest surge in critical illness anyone has ever seen?

The Spanish flu was worse, and that impacted healthy people.

NYC should have isolated the old and high risk, and let everyone else go back to normal to increase herd immunity as well as viral attenuation.

Old and high risk people can’t be isolated. They have care takers. Those caretakers get sick, they make their patients sick.

It doesn’t work.

Sure they can. The caretakers can be screened and told to self isolate as much as possible.

I didn't go see my grandfather of 98 years old unless I wasn't in hard contact with people for at least 5 days before seeing him.

He died at 102, of old age, not COVID.

Not sure how to plan to screen caretakers. Trump was protected as much as anyone can be and he still got it because people are infectious before having any symptoms.

Temperature checks daily, if someone feels sick, they go home.

Being infectious before symptoms has never been truly proven or dismissed.

Most people got it because the masking and distancing crap was bullshit.
