I already posted a thread about how we should go about calculating monetary reparations. Now I'd like to take about alternatives. With the economy in a bubble right now, it could come crashing down. All talks about getting reparations money will be over at that point. That's why diversifying ways to get reparations is important.
One type of reparation could involve no money and would just be something simple like an apology. We've already seen this in the form of people pledging their solidarity. History classes for decades have also taught students about slavery. For all the African Americans out there, how does a 5 page apologetic essay sound instead of a paycheck?
There's also indirect reparations. Google highlighting black-owned businesses is an example. This allows people to frequent black owned businesses more often and therefore contribute to their success. For all the big reparations supporters on this forum, do you use such a feature to find black-owned businesses? You might need to do your homework if you're in the dark on this.
I personally think this feature from Google could be expanded into a multi-platform system in which you get 'reparation points' for buying stuff from black-owned business. People could then share how many reparations points they have on social media.
