No'Mo American Liquor On Store Shelves "Tariffs"

Lol, Canadians are about to find out how shitty their domestic whiskey is.

I gave it up years ago because I liked the taste of rum too much.
I just discovered Goslings Black Seal 151 proof rum and I have to agree. I've always stuck with Bacardi, but they quit making 151 so I went looking for a replacement. Goslings is DELICIOUS. I could almost use it in the drink and not just as a float if I could last the super proof. LOL

I can't help but thunk...that's a PRETTY WEAK RESPONSE!

Really? American booze? I don't know if Trump even needs to respond to that one. They'll probably take more heat from their own citizens.

If they would like to send me that Kentucky Bourban and Tennessee whiskey they won't be selling anymore, I'll dispose of it for them over the next several years.

Canadian Whiskey is pretty smooth, I'll admit that.
I'm sure you would be the life of the party.

Trump is all 'America first' , can we agree on that? ~S~
Yep, Trump is like pay us, or suffer.

If the trading stops it will hurt Mexico and Canada way worse than it will America. They should just pay up.

Trump wont let this linger. He did it in his first term.

Raise tariffs massively and they'll come to the table to work out a deal.

I wouldn't be surprised if this all plays out by tomorrow morning.
Exactly.

Especially Mexico. They are going to beg for a deal. We are just waiting them out for a bit. They cannot survive without America. They definitely cannot live lavishly.

This approach will only encourage Trump to retaliate against certain provinces for "special tariffs". Say, "40% of imported automobiles from Ontario", or "10% extra for resources from B.C" etc.

There are already plenty of tariffs and protectionism being employed by countries, this new tariff isn't any different other than it is more blunt and effective.

Canada has had decades to change course. Japan doesn't have near our resources, they are an island and look at how more advanced they are. Canada had a huge head start but Japan post-WWII decided to embrace their best citizens while Canadas unaccountable covert police state just suppressed and enforced a caste.
You make a lot of good points. During Trump's first term he said he would drain the swamp, but he did not know how deep the swamp was. Now he seems to have a better idea of deep it is. The drain may take a bit longer.

/—-/ Canadians can drive over the border to any of the border states and buy booze. They can also fill up on cheaper gas and get medical care without 6 month waiting list.
Canada is trying to really hit America hard. Mexico is soft balling it with just payback tariffs. Canada is more like... all American products out!

I'm sure they are just all bark and no bite.

N.S. to pull all U.S. booze from liquor store shelves in response to Trump tariffs

Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston responded to U.S. president Donald Trump's tariff increase on Saturday.

Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston
has outlined his response to tariffs imposed on Canada by U.S. President Donald Trump.
On Saturday, Trump signed an executive order that imposes a 25 per cent tariff on Canadian goods entering the U.S., including a 10 per cent tariff on oil and gas.
In a press release sent just hours after the tariffs were confirmed, Houston said that as of Monday, tolls at the Cobequid Pass will double for commercial vehicles entering from the U.S.

He said the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation will be directed to remove all U.S. alcohol from store shelves effective this Tuesday. That totals more than 400 products, including beer, wine, spirits and coolers.

For the 2023-24 fiscal year, sales of U.S. products imported from the U.S. totalled $18 million of the NSLC's $753 million in sales on alcohol, said a liquor corporation spokesperson. These products made up seven per cent of the NSLC's number of alcohol listings.

Business deals with the U.S. will also be curtailed.

"We will look for opportunities to cancel existing contracts and will maintain the option to reject bids outright because of President Trump's unlawful tariffs."

In 2023, Kentucky exported $76 million worth of whiskey and other spirits to Canada, according to Canada’s Department of Agriculture and Agri-Food. This week, Kentucky liquor products were among those pulled from Canadian store shelves.

“The governor of Kentucky said, ‘Don’t touch our bourbon,' and I said, ‘Governor, that’s the first thing we’re going after,’” Ontario Premier Doug Ford told reporters Tuesday. “We’re the largest purchaser of bourbon in the world for Kentucky bourbon manufacturers. They’re done. They’re gone.”

The Distilled Spirits Council said in a statement Wednesday that it was “greatly troubled” by U.S. alcohol products’ being removed from Canadian stores, as well as the retaliatory tariffs.

They'll put it back on the shelves when the tariffs hit so they will sell more CC and Crown. LMAO, I'll make up for the Canadians.
