Nobel Prize For Palestinian Hero?

Wait, I'm confused. What has Marwan actually done to create peace between Israel and Palestinians? You know, that's deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize?

I kind of see this as two different issues.

1. Is he worthy of a nomination? Arguments against it are the exact same arguments that would disqualify Begin or Mandella.

2. Is he worthy of the prize? That is arguable. I do think there is potential there, as he is arguing against violent resistance and for a political process. In this, I can see similarities to Mandella. That is not to say he should be the winner - but it places him in the category of those who could legitimately be considered as opposed to the automatic rejection coming from some.

Fry him.

He's a convicted terrorist with no redeeming qualities, He's doing five life sentences with no chance of parole.

Save all that space and money and just fry him.

Would you have fried Begin? Mandella?

Neither Begin nor Mandella were serving five life sentences for murdering civilians

Neither Begin nor Mandella were serving five life sentences for murdering civilians

On This Day: Nelson Mandela Sentenced to Life in Prison

On This Day: Nelson Mandela Sentenced to Life in Prison

Speaking of baseless we have this clown trying to equate Mandela to some terrorist convicted of murdering civilians

The false equivalency is glaring ;--)

Well Mandela agrees with me. There is no false equivalency. You should really do some research before you post, as you always look the fool.

Mandela is agreeing with you, on what Numbnuts ? He's blithering on about something not even remotely on topic

Bait and switch is the best you can do, really ?

So where does Mandela compare himself to ole Marwan ?

Sorry but once again your inability to stick to the subject only proves what a poor conversationalist you are. We can discuss Mandela's stance on apartheid elsewhere.

Since it has absolutely nothing to do with this subject :--) and as usual you claim one thing and then link to something completely different

Yet Begin, received the Peace Prize and was a leader of a terrorist group that planned and executed many terror attacks in which thousands of Palestinian civilians were murdered in violation of Article 51(3) of Additional Protocol I, protecting them when they are not involved direct part in hostilities; absent a clear "military advantage." And, Begin received the Peace Prize notwithstanding his intentional malfeasance of locating of paramilitary objectives inside densely populated Christian and Muslim villages Areas, intentionally murdering civilians to induce terror in the civilian populace promoting the departure of the remaining civilians to achieve ethnic cleansing.
"Thousands of Palestinian civilians murdered by Begin"?! Jayzus, your lies get worse and worse with each progressive post. Time to retool the antisemtic propaganda machine.

Begin was the leader of the Irgun. How many Palestinian civilians and British do you figure Irgun killed?

How many do you suppose were armed and looking to murder "the enemy"

Well, that's rich. You condone terrorism when it succeeds for the Jews, yet it is a terrible crime when the Palestinians use terrorism to advance their objectives. It is a crime on both sides, son.

What could the Muslims and Christians have done have done over the past 70 years to avoid being ruled by incoming foreigners? Tell us.

Stoppd the arab muslim illegal migrants from going there to start wars in their name against the Jews and Christians of course.

I guess the Ottoman Muslim invaders who defeated the Arab Muslim invaders and ruled for 700 years, aren't considered "foreigners". ha ha ha.

Yes, they were foreigners but did not evict the native people and transfer Turks to Palestine to replace them. The Ottomans evicted the Mamluk rulers (who also did not evict the natives to replace them with Mamluks. Mamluks were not Arabs.

The ones that came after did as shown by the many Jewish people left after the invasions, same with the Christiaqn communities

Irgun was formed after IslamoNazi Palestinian terrorist animals committed a few massacres, including the one on the ancient Jews of Hebron in 1929. You're the bigot who claimed that Begin killed "thousands of civilians". Let's see your evidence liar.

On the other hand, there is no doubt that Yassir Arafat was a terrorist leader who planned suicide bombings and targeting of Israeli women and children for 80 years, and even after he signed the peace accords he reneged and countued being a terrorist.

True story.

Irgun was made up of Europeans that were in the process of taking over Palestine from the native people. They were terrorists. Begin was their leader. Irgun killed thousands of the native people of Palestine.

True story.:cool-45:

WOW, and you actually believe that nonsense, thats the amazing part.

The native people of Judaea are Judaic ;--) The term palestine for thousands of years refered to the Judaic peoples land. Renames so by the Romans out of spite. Long before Arab Muslims even existed.

But facts seem to elude you, particularly when you are desperately running that Nazi nonsense up the flagpole one more time.

They were defending themselves against Nazi aggression

Begin was one of many leaders who successfully defended the native Judiac people from the Arab Muslim colonists.

mandelbaum.arab.population.png

But its all just another bait and switch from one of our local Nazi's

The fact that these Nazi fools are now forwarding a convicted murderer to the nobel committee is just one more example of how deranged they truly are.

"We nominate Manson" is basically what they are saying

Strange. I was never aware that Mandella ever subscribed to the goals and intent as laid out in the Hamas Charter.

Your silly cutting and pasting is drenched in phony moral equivalences.

Why shouldn't Marwan Barghouti be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize?

Because decent people reject murder.

That you would have to have that explained to you only exhibits how extreme you are in your support for those who do.

Decent people don't reject murder apparently, given the history of some of the prior Nobel winners (haven't heard any rejection from you on that score, maybe it's only Palestinian murderers you reject).

Begin was never caught and prosecuted for his crimes. Does that mean his murders deserve a free pass?

In other words the claims he committed any crimes at all are baseless ;--)

Not at all. They are historically documented. Stop pretending.

I would not have given a Nobel to Begin or Mandela.

Unlike you, I am not a despicably underhanded and corrupt individual who devotes many tens of thousands of postings towards defending terrorism.

Not false at all. Mandela was a terrorist.

So, the question - for some at least - is this. Can a person who committed terrible crimes, be redeemed by future actions? I think the answer in some cases is yes and an example would be Mandella or Begin. The answer could also be Marwan but we have yet to see what he will do long term, only that there is a start in the right direction.

From Wikipedia's list of Irgun attacks:
20 killed, 5 wounded by barrel bomb at Damascus Gate.
10 killed by bomb at Noga Cinema in Jaffa.
2 Arabs killed and 9 injured by shooting attack on cafe in Jaffa.
14 Arabs killed and 19 injured by truck bomb outside the 3-storey 'Serrani', Jaffa's built Ottoman Town Hall

Sounds like common old terrorism to me.

I believe in redemption.

.

Well, you better start redeeming yourself, then.

Time is starting to run out.

You are not qualified to make that demand.

Why don't you discuss the issues? You always seem to resort to personal attacks instead, perhaps because you lack the capacity for a real discussion and can only handle it with your personal vitriole? I see it over and over when someone has the audacity to present a view you disagree with.

Marwan is no different than Begin and Mandella in terms of background. The difference is only in what his future actions might be and that is what would determine whether he deserves a prize. Should people be forever judged on only one segment of their lives? The main sticking point with Begin and Mandella is neither regretted the use of violence, they felt it was necessary at the time. I don't agree with that. But - both did overcome some major obstacles to create peace and stability in their respective states. South Africa could have gone the way of Zimbabwe, and other African countries but because of Mandella, it did not.

By who, Monty ?

And define crime. How is defending ones self a crime. You are conveniently forgetting that it was the Arab Muslims that were continually attacking Jewish people in the first place.

There's a big difference between the assailant and the assailed

Ergo offering a prize to a terrorist is like offering a prize to Hitler
