No President has a good second term, so why do you think Trump will?

It’s technically a first term since he is following awful Biden/Harris. You only have one other reference pt from a completely different time period.

No, it really isn't. It's a non-consecutive term.

And he's pretty much making the mistake all second term presidents seem to make.

Which mistakes did FDR make? According you, his second term was awful.

Which mistakes did FDR make? According you, his second term was awful.

Actually, it kind of was awful. The country slipped back into recession, SCOTUS struck down huge chunks of the New Deal, and the Republicans made substantial gains in the Midterms.

We tend to forget this because WWII happened during his third term.

So, without getting into policy or politics, the reality is that Presidents never have good second terms. There are reasons for this. While in a first term, a President will try to burnish his credibility by appointing Senators and Governors to key posts, in a second term, he's more likely to appoint loyalists who are less likely to say, "I wouldn't do that if I were you." They are more likely to have scandals.

Let's review recent history, shall we?

Obama - Lost the Senate in the midterms. Mired in the IRS fake scandal.
Dubya Bush- Iraq war went south, Katrina, and the economic crash of 2008.
Clinton- Monica Lewinsky
Reagan - Iran Contra, the 1987 Stock market crash
Nixon- Watergate
Johnson - Vietnam, Race Riots, Civil unrest

Worsened the Depression, with a second serious recession in 1937-38. Essentially destroyed the Constitution. Oversaw the creation of a huge, bloated bureaucracy that is still around a century later. And got the country involved in a world war.

You’re wrong. You have to look at this almost as another first term.

Yet he kept getting more terms. The people just didn't get your opinion.

No, not really.

He's making all the second term mistakes... in spades.

If this were a first term, he'd be appointing people like Coats, Barr, Mattis, etc.

instead, he appointing clowns like Gaetz, Hegseth, Gabbard

Well this isn’t a true second term, we had four years of demafacist who have ruined the economy and given us global chaos

He’s unburdened by what has been….Trump has a MAGA as fuck D.C. behind him this time, he has both chambers, he has an absolute mandate from the people, he’s 80 and dying soon, he has nothing to loose, no second term to try to position for and nothing to ‘setup’ for the future. He’s the bull in the China shop and he’s coming for you and your ilk.

No, guy, I was hoping against tough times, that's why I voted against Trump.

Sadly, you guys are happy to ratfuck the country to feed your toxic masculinity and racism.

Trump is kind of proving my point. It's not just Gaetz, Hegseth, and Gabbard. It's making the puppy killer be in charge of DHS. The only somewhat credible appointment he's announced so far is Rubio as Secretary of State.
so Trump won because of racism and misogyny eh ? keep running on that dembot .. you are in a cult .

What is certain is that the MSM will downplay every success and criticize every significant initiative until the day he leaves office. The verdict on his Presidency will be the 2026 mid-terms, followed by whether a Democrat wins in 2028.
the party not in power usually does well in the midterms .. if Dems take the House in 2026 look for them to impeach the POTUS ...again !

how many POTUS had control of both the House and the Senate and a majority in the SC in their 2nd term ? no pall..... he's appointing firebrands that aren't afraid of the bureaucracy to push forward his agenda to MAGA !

Gabbard could run circles around Harris.

So you’re judging them before they even started their jobs? Not overly objective.

A second term is a second term.

Let's see now, Biden "ruined" the economy by adding 15 million new jobs (after Trump lost 5 million), bringing unemployment down to 4.1% (after Trump brought it up to 14%), and brought the Stock Market to 44,000 (Trump only had it at 30,000)

We're going to look back at the Biden years as a golden age.
