I say the only 'amnesty' should be to allow them to self deport and return to their home country. Then, and only then, should they be allowed to apply for work visas or whatever to return to the USA legally and they would be considered the same as all others who apply to come here legally.

If they do not leave, no citizenship. If they have to be forcibly removed, they will not be allowed to return even on a visitor visa ever.

And being able to come back legally might be enough incentive for most to do that if we make it unpleasant enough for them to be here. Only those without criminal records and who meet other standards we require of those receiving visas and green cards would be able to get them.

But the law should be changed that any who come illegally or via any means other than visa or green card from this point on will never have a path to citizenship.

I think we probably have 30-40 million illegals and 80% of them have to go back

But that's a tall task

And yes, those that remain should never become citizens
