No One Knows How to Fix anything Anymore.

Is it just me or are people, but men in particular, completely clueless when it comes to fixing anything around the house anymore?

I had a friend who was complaining about how much a plumber charged him to remove a cracked toilet and install a new one. He really had no idea that he could have done it himself for less than $150.

I know another guy who actually called an electrician to put in a ceiling fan.

It just sad isn't it?
I am the answer man for anything electrical.

For many decades I did almost all my own home repairs including carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, appliance repair, etc. My wife of over fifty years was quite vocal about the fact that I had saved us tens of thousands of dollars with my handyman work. Then at age sixty-five I decided I was retired from home repairs. I just decided I would rather pay someone else so I had more time for fun.

I'd give it an hour. Unless you're replacing it with a nearly identical model. But how many people have toilets new enough, that they still make it.

Have you tried to get a brass flush valve? They're all plastic and cheaper to buy the whole valve, than try to replace a leaking seal.

An hour if you **** around for a half hour.
All toilets will fit on the standard fittings.
And it's easy to find brass valves.

There is enough to know about how to properly put in a ceiling fan, that I do not recommend that it be done by someone who doesn't know what he is doing.

I'm an electrician, and even I wouldn't want to try it by myself, at this point. I've never installed a ceiling fan, and at least the first time or two that I tried, I would want to be assisted by someone who has the experience of having done so before. It's not so much the electrical connections (well within the ability of any competent electrician) but the structural attachment issues.

Now you know. Any ***** afraid of replacing a wax ring and hooking up a water supply or connecting three wires and installing a hanger bracket certainly cannot trust himself with a firearm.

Right where the far left want you.

How to hang it is simple.
Find a ceiling joist and attach the box to it and wire it up.
They even have a hook system on the fan and box so you can hang it while you do the electrical connections.

Dont be like my Wifes ex who tried to hang it directly to the sheetrock.
It came down minutes after he turned it on.

No offense but city folks who grew up in apartments ain't got a clue and don't give a damn as long as they can call Carlos the maintenance man. A kid who grew up on a farm can fix anything from a sick animal to a F-150.

If you can't install a simple ceiling fan I don't know how you could be an electrician.
