Feb 17 arrived at the diplomatic mission minutes after the the attack started.

The CIA Annex sent a six man rescue team to the diplomatic mission.

The CIA in Tripoli sent a seven man team to Benghazi.

The Libyan Shield sent 50 machine gun trucks to the CIA annex.

The Libyan Air Force sent a C-130 to transport the Americans from Benghazi to Tripoli.

The U. S. Air Force sent a C-17 to transport the Americans from Tripoli to Germany.

Obama sent two special forces units, a Marine Fast Platoon and naval assets.

"When we got the phone call. It was 23 minutes from the time we got the call to the time we got over there. Our station chief told me to stand down. I got out of the car and put my two cents in it. We could actually see the consulate was on fire. We said, “Hey, we need to get over there. We’re losing the initiative.” The chief of base operations said to stand down because we needed to come up with a plan. I told him it was too late. We needed to get eyes on and come up with a plan on the move. The final straw was when the State guy got on the radio and said, “If you don’t get here now, we’re all going to [expletive] die. We need your help now.”


Tiegen told Congress that the Chief's exact words were, "Stand down, you need to wait. You need to make a plan."

while they were standing on the front porch of the CIA Annex. Tiegen told Congress that the Deputy Chief and the Security Team Leader were there when the Chief told him to "stand down."

The Chief, the Deputy Chief and the Security Team Leader dispute Tiegen's "stand down" claim. The Chief denies he told Tiegen to "stand down." The Deputy Chief and the Security Team Leader say they didn't hear the Chief tell Tiegen to "stand down."

Tiegen told Congress that the Chief's exact words were, "Stand down, you need to wait. You need to make a plan."

For sake of argument, let's assume the Chief actually did tell Tiegen to, "Stand down, you need to wait. You need to make a plan."

In the military "stand down" is used to tell people, "be quiet" or "shut up."

The Chief was telling Tiegen to shut up, you need to wait. You need to make a plan.

The Chief had cleared the Security Team Leader to go when he told the Deputy Chief "absolutely", when the Deputy Chief told him the diplomatic mission was under attack and they needed to get over there.

The Security Team leader was concerned about a number of things as he made a plan for the rescue team.

He was concerned that they didn't know what they would be up against when they got to the diplomatic mission. He wanted to contact February 17 Martyrs Brigade for assistance. In particular, he wanted one of their machine gun trucks. (Unbeknownst to the Team Leader, Feb. 17 was already at the diplomatic mission with a machine gun truck doing battle with the attackers.)

The team leader was concerned that if six shooters went to assist the diplomatic mission, the CIA Annex would be vulnerable. There were eight shooters on the CIA Annex Security Team. One was out of the Annex on a mission with a CIA agent. That would leave only one shooter left to defend the Annex in the event of an attack. Also, the rescue team would be taking all of the security team's machine guns, grenade launchers and other "heavy stuff."

There was concern about a possible ambush or enemy roadblock or checkpoint. (Unbeknownst to the team leader, the enemy had set up roadblocks on the streets leading to the diplomatic mission to prevent assistance from reaching the diplomatic facility.

The Security Team Leader was concerned about getting into a Blue on Green situation, with Feb. 17 and the CIA rescue team shooting at each other.

After working the phones for about seven minutes, the Security Team Leader realized he was not going to be able to reach a Feb. 17 officer on the phone. He told the Chief they were going, ran to the lead vehicle, took the commander's seat and the rescue team departed the Annex.

Your apparent “liars of Benghazi” who were on the ground claim there was a stand down order. Just by your characterization of them right off the bat, your using another logical fallacy called an ad hominem (attacking a persons credentials or credibility instead of their claims), to suggest its a matter of he said she said.

What we do know with 100% certainty, there was a stand down order given to the carrier group right off of the coast. This group was prepared to send air assistance that would’ve arrived in 20 mins. They had a wide variety of options to provide assistance, including non-violent deterrence measures such as fly overs. We know that 2 of the defense contractors on the ground died using a laser designator to identify targets for air support that never came. We know that the excuses that were given by the administration about the situation that came out to be 100% false later. Excuses like this was all sparked by an obscure YouTube video that maybe was only viewed 1000 times. The supbeanoed emails showed this was the spin the administration decided to go with after the fact. We know the excuse given for the question of “how in the world was more help not provided at any point in this span of 13 hours that was requested on numerous occasions?” That excuse was the “fog of war”, a term that was pertinent in war pre satellite, drone, and advanced communication systems. We know that wasn’t the case since the administration was in constant contact with those on the ground, and had an around the clock drone flying overhead giving them all the visual data they needed in real time. We know that the help that was sent, the “liars of Benghazi”, were severely inadequate, and also claimed there was a stand down ordered they ignored. We also have all of the requests filed by the ambassador to send more security in the months leading up to this event. All of this and more point the arrow pretty strongly in the direction that the administration is guilty of some aggregious neglect, and tried to cover it up and put a more palatable spin on it.
