The Iraq War happened decades later - and although the US took control of Iraq - Some shorter term oil contracts were done shortly after the war with British Petrolium, Italy, Turkey - China/Russia BUT The vast majority of the Oil Contracts ended up with China & Russia.

So no, spending a TRILLION dollars on a war to have China and Russia end up with the control of the Oil would not be a "reason" for that war.

As a matter of fact, Sadaam Hussein offered to sell oil to the US for as low as $10 a barrel if the US would sign a long term peace deal PRIOR to the invasions. THE US REFUSED. It would have been exponentially more profitable for the US had they not gone to war in Iraq.

Trump said major oil companies are going to handle upgrading, repairing operating Vz's oil industry. This tells me there already has been discussions.
US needs new refineries but the tree huggers delay construction. During 45 I read there were investors willing to construct new refineries here. That went out the window with the bogus 2020 election.
So oil companies are going to operate Vz's oil industry. Great opportunity to build new refineries and ship fuel to the US and not much the tree huggers could do about it.
