NFL national anthem protesters

What exactly is the purpose of having rights if you can't exercise them.

EXACTLY! Now, there are no restrictions on a person's right to free speech or expressing their views in the NFL that I am aware of. Yeah, they do have a morals clause which prevents you from doing things that are immoral or illegal, but free speech protest as far as I know doesn't have any restrictions. If anyone has a link to show where free speech is limited in the NFL, it would be appreciated.

However..................................

If you join the military, about 50 to 75 percent of your rights as an American citizen are suspended while you are in the military. If you wish to express your free speech, you have to check with your PAO (Public Affairs Officer) and tell them where you are going, why you are protesting, and how you will appear before they give you permission.

Incidentally...................you can't wear an official military uniform to a partisan rally to take part in the rally.

your point? Kap was not ARRESTED

You really should work on your reading comprehension. Never said that Kap was arrested.

Someone asked what is the point of having rights if you can't exercise them?

I replied "exactly" to the question, meaning that I was agreeing with them. I then pointed out that as far as I know there is no restriction on free speech from the NFL as far as I knew, and asked that if someone knew there was, to please link to it so I could learn myself.

I then told about how the military suspends many of the rights that Americans have as private citizens.

Nowhere did I say that Kap needed to be arrested for free speech. Matter of fact, the whole point was to illustrate that the ONLY place that I know of where they restrict your rights as an American citizen as a condition of employment was the military.
Its a ploy to deflect from her earlier claim that Kap made a display.

Could you elaborate what is racist about the anthem? I don't know if you are black or not but I know you have at least one thing in common, you are both full of yourself.
I should be full of myself. I am Black. So your commenting on something you have no clue about and you want me to do the work to enlighten you?
Just explain what you said about the anthem being racist that is all.
it glories killing slaves that fought for their freedom.

Careful, your gonna out-stupid Rdean.
That means i will 3x smarter than you rather than just 2x smarter.

Hardly, you seem quite ignorant. You spew some really stupid shit.

well ----you are wrong-----people who are EMPLOYED can be fired-------holding on to a job is
not a RIGHT-----if your employer DON't WANT YOU NO MORE

The NFL should know, and I bet they do, that the games are entertainment. They control the content. They control the action. So if they were serious they would tell the teams it ain't good for business and really the protests serve nothing other then to further alienate the two sides. The NFL should tell them to knock it off or get suspended. There is nothing racist about a flag when these guys are getting the American dream by being paid millions. Spoiled brats is what they are.

How in the hell do you get that out of the US flag? Only by the most crazed of interpretation. My WHITE ancestors charged canister under that flag to FREE blacks from the bondage that the democrat party had placed them. If you had an ounce of sense you would be protesting the democrat party for even still being in existence. But the US flag? That should symbolize the sacrifice that was made to free the black man so BLACKS could have a better life then they would in slavery or even in Africa or whatever country their ancestors came from.

You an a whole lot of others sure have a misconception about rights. You do have free speech when directed at the government but that is about it. If you work at a company, your free speech can very well be controlled, or else you work elsewhere. The NFL is no different then any business, they are in it to make money. What these protests do is hurt business so they have the power to do something about it. Free speech has nothing to do with it. As do most of your rights when you are at work.

In the military, you don't even have the right to direct your free speech at the government. Did you miss the part where I told you that you can't wear an official military uniform to a rally that supports one candidate over another?

And free speech isn't the only right that was suspended while I was on active duty.

I think I informed you before this has nothing to do with the flag. If that simple concept escapes you i dont think we can make any constructive progress. If you wish to debate an issue with the flag thats another subject but dont try to blend the two.

You're right, you can be fired from a private company if you are expressing views that are incompatible with the companies mission and vision statement.

However..........................all that company in the civilian world can do is fire you.

In the military, depending on what you said and how you said it and where, you can be brought up on charges in some cases that could result in either UCMJ punishment (Captain's Mast for the Navy) or you can be courts martialed.

It is too hypocratic and funny, "I will give my life to defend your right to speak but you better by god not say anything that I don't like!"

The same for all groups and individuals, let them speak then speak back at them, or as Thomas Jefferson would say today

"TADA".

Maybe I was a little hard on you but what you said about the military goes for private companies. You pretty much give up a lot of freedom when you go to work.

Freedom of speech only extends to the government, he can do and say what he wants, but the NFL is a private company and there may well be a price to pay.

It is really dumb for the NFL to keep showing the attention whore national anthem protesters.
They will lose viewers and advertising revenue and the dumb players will be paid less.
Besides, everyone already knows that the Left Wingers hate our country, so it's just a waste of time.

The NFL has control of what is shown on TV.

If the NFL would just stopped showing these attention whore national anthem protesters on TV they would stop doing it.

BTW it is America that made these ungrateful NFL players rich and famous, so it’s an offensive protest.
false argument. No one did it for attention. When Kap did it he made no fanfare of it. People spying on him freaked out and made it a media sensation. it was kind of weird to me because I never stand while that racist song is being played.

your behavior is rude and meaningless------as is that of kap et al. "spying on him"?---he thought
he was in the toilet? It was and is meant as a very public DISPLAY
Youre dumb. If he wanted it to be a display he would have held a press conference and said what he was doing. As it was it took them a couple of games to see what he was doing.

if he did not want it to be a DISPLAY----he would have left the area. Your silly suggestion that he thought
NO ONE WOULD NOTICE ------is a product of your addled brain. Is someone FORCING him to play
the game?

Did anyone pick him up, or is he still unemployed?

Just explain what you said about the anthem being racist that is all.
it glories killing slaves that fought for their freedom.

That's some pure retarded crap right there.

Slaves that fought for their freedom by fighting against Americans. In other words: Traitors to the cause.
