This republican’s frustration is indicative of a clearly desperate GOP constituency disappointed with a poor crop of candidates and a gloomy start to the campaign season.

The former House speaker, who is in the midst of a 17-stop tour of Iowa, has come under heavy fire from Republicans for suggesting Sunday that the Ryan budget, passed earlier this year by House Republicans, amounts to "right-wing social engineering." Gingrich suggested that Ryan's plan to transform Medicare into a voucher-like program was "too big a jump" and suggested it was an effort at "imposing radical change" on Americans.

On this issue, Gingrich is correct.

You've got to (at least) try to be more objective.

The economy was tanking under Bush. People can argue whether or not he was responsible or not. It's academic at this point, frankly. But the economy hasn't continued to tank under Obama. Things are turning around. It may be slow, but it's happening. Again, people can argue as to whether Obama's policies are responsible for the turn around or not. However, it's obvious that Obama's policies are NOT continuing to contract the economy as was happening under Bush.
