Could this be the beginning of Newsom's attempt at popularity for defeating fascism?

Well, I don't know if I'd go so far as to call it optimism. All that matters to me are my kids, and I have to try to look at the bright side for them. They have every advantage, so at least I know they'll do well by comparison. That's not really enough. The bigger context is not promising.

At some point, somebody in one of the parties has to rise above this. It sure doesn't seem imminent, though.
